sat down in the lab this morn with Land of Plenty to go through everyone’s GANG submissions for our new logo, zhuzhing them up into our hot new look done about the first 100 (there are 1000+) and buzzzzzing so sick to involve our community in POT GANG's evolution we’ll be using every single one in one way or another, whether it be on our boxes, guides, tape, website, seed baggies, or somewhere else cooking for 2025 🍲🍜

We invited the amazing team from POT GANG to the barns today for a plant-growing workshop! 🪴 Their beginner-friendly kits make it incredibly easy for anyone to start growing their own food from home. Not only did we learn lots but it was also a wonderful opportunity for barners to take some time out of their busy days, connect with each other and learn how growing your own veg + herbs can support your wellbeing. We're so excited to watch our little gardens grow! 🌿🥕 Thank you #PotGang for such a refreshing and inspiring day! 💚

I'm not great at taking breaks. I'm better at taking my lunch break when I'm in the office, but when I'm working from home I usually just work through it and eat at my desk. I know, it's a bad habit. Today I did something different. I closed my laptop and headed out into the garden. Check out the video to see my home-grown lemon chillis, cucamelon and honeycomb tomatoes! 🌶️🍈🍅 Are you disciplined when it comes to taking your lunch break? What do you do to tear yourself away from your desk? Gardening? A walk? Reading perhaps? Let me know in the comments. #worklifebalance #mentalhealth #employeewellbeing

Empowering and inspiring the minds of tomorrow, one summer at a time 🌻🌞🎨 Each August, we partner with skilled educators and class providers to offer children a variety of enjoyable activities to stay healthy, be creative, socialise and learn new skills. In collaboration with Southwark Council, Mercato has been delivering this programme alongside our valuable community and trading partners since 2018. From moving and grooving with Danceworks London, to fixing old bikes with Community Cycleworks and planting baby plants with Greens Made Easy, the last few weeks have been a special experience for all those involved. One of the key goals of the programme is to fight childhood food insecurity. Each day, our amazing trading partners prepared delicious meals and nutritious snacks for everyone to enjoy. Our trading partners also hosted a series of exciting cooking classes, to inspire and teach children about the joys of cooking from scratch. We were truly moved by the young people who joined us this year to try something different, unlock new skills and have lots of fun along the way. With special thanks to our amazing partners and the wonderful team at Mercato Metropolitano - the success of Mercato Metropolitano’s Summer Camps would not have been possible without you. 🥊 Sport Partners: Iain Perriss and Jack from Peckham A.B.C, Ezzy, Ash and Dom from Danceworks London, Yoga Instructor Jasmine St Cliere and Wesley Richter, Gemma, Mubarak, Collin and Enock from Mercato Metropolitano. 🥦 Cooking Classes: Yohannah from Le Safran Vert, Samarkand Palav, Omama’s Kitchen, Injera Hub, Feilim’s Kitchen and Michele from Mercato Metropolitano. 🫧 Interactive Workshops: Bubble Artist Olena Nesterenko, Beats & Eats, Artist Zayr Luciano, Irene from Rudie’s, Frances and Helena from Urban Fresh Greens Made Easy, Chloe from BB Broadway, Community Cycleworks and Emily Luo. 🧑🍳 Mercato Metropolitano Trading Partners: Tandoori Tadkaa, Fresco Trattoria, Dez Amore, Guasa Group, Mazavaroo Club, Bibimbap and Badiani 1932. 🪴 Volunteers and Gifting Partners: POT GANG, Adam’s Fruits, Selfridges, Handelsbanken, Walnut Unlimited, the students of Southwark College, Metropolitan Police, Southwark Council for funding the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, and Abi, Enock, Serena and Jasmine from the Mercato Metropolitano Community Team. #MercatoMetropolitano #MovimentoMetropolitano #Community #FoodForAll #HAF

We are proud to have recently provided grow your own herb boxes to 250 young people across Tower Hamlets. We partnered with POT GANG who create these boxes, to be distributed to charities supporting young people on the HAF programme through school holiday clubs. Rachael Flatt at The Mayors Fund for London helped to identify charities that would most benefit from this donation. One of the charities that received some of the boxes is Beyond the Bias . We went along to see the boxes being distributed and we are blown away by the amazing work that they, along with their Founder Maryam Chowdhury are doing. The children were very skilled in planting and growing and they had a great time sowing seeds to grow mint, spinach and sunflowers. We are so happy to have be a part of the programme that was being delivered. #communitysupport #healthyliving #communitygardening #takingontomorrowtogether
🌿 Exciting Visit from POT GANG! 🌿 This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Pot Gang, who generously provided us with 50 Vegetable Growing Kits. These kits are a fantastic enrichment activity for the children, designed to boost their food, health, and nutritional education. The day was filled with lots of mess and laughter! 🎉 The young people planted mint, spinach, and sunflower seeds, and were thrilled at the prospect of never having to buy these ingredients again. They also had a blast with the best activity book and proudly earned certificates for their efforts! Safe to say, it was a really fun session, but boy, was it messy! 🌱✨ Special thanks to Chloe Kelly, Ruby Falconer, William Stancer, Rachael Flatt, Padmanabh Phadke Cert CII, NorthStandard and The Mayor's Fund for London. #PotGang #CommunityGardening #YouthEducation #FunAndLearning #HealthyLiving

Awesome afternoon with Salesforce a couple of weeks ago. We were invited in by David Holmes to run one of our POT GANG workshops as part of the great work he and his Earthforce team are conducting. Thanks to Comnexa for sponsoring the event and making it all possible… including providing each attendee with their own August Growing Kit to continue their newfound enthusiasm at home! Looking forward to seeing the update photos of how everyone’s produce is coming along!
