About us

PR Agency One is an award winning B2B and B2C public relations consultancy based in Manchester and London. We are different because very few PR consultants truly understand how to pull together campaigns that link media relations, SEO, digital marketing, website development and other marketing disciplines to ensure clients get the most value from their budgets. Gone are the days of appointing multiple agencies. Today’s marketing experts are multi-specialist and led by strategic public relations thinking. That is why PR Agency One is different and it is why organisations turn to us, time and time again. Media relations is the central pillar of PR Agency One and the consultancy isn’t home to ‘social media gurus’ either. Instead, what PR Agency One offers are strategies that start with media relations, but pull in insights from SEO and other digital disciplines to ensure campaigns work as well in the Sunday Times as they do on blogs, Twitter or YouTube. So if your PR agency is peddling tired media relations campaigns and you want to embrace digital media, but you still want classic PR agency services, then PR Agency One is the organisation for you.

Our MD spoke to Channel 5 news this lunchtime about the PR and reputational impacts on the venue and its headline naming partner. Tune in to the tea time news to hear what James Crawford FPRCA had to say. Also coming to our blog very soon! 📰 What are your thoughts on the venue's three failed openings and its communications around them? ⬇️

I was invited on Channel 5 News today to represent PR Agency One and discuss the tumultuous opening of the Co-op Live arena. I’m on at 5pm if you fancy a nosy. Here I am pictured with Channel 5's Peter Lane The opening has been marred by infrastructure problems and delayed shows, which has cast a shadow over the Oak View Group.   Despite the debacle surrounding the opening, the Co-op's reputation has remained largely intact. They have emphasised that the responsibility lies with Oak View Group, while expressing sympathy towards affected fans. The Co-op's transparent communication has helped maintain public trust, allowing them to navigate this crisis without significant reputational damage.   The arena's operational failures stem from a host of construction and management issues that were evident to locals before the opening. Oak View Group’s ambitious launch generated significant positive press, but the infrastructure failures have since tainted this reputation.   Is there cause for concern for the Co-op? In short, no. The Co-op has maintained its integrity by holding Oak View Group accountable and addressing fans' concerns. The extensive media coverage, although negative, has increased the arena's visibility and may reach new audiences in the long term.   If the construction issues are manageable, the arena may recover swiftly, especially with strategic communication to rebuild public trust. However, protracted legal disputes over the construction issues could delay this recovery. What about Oak View Group? The onus is firmly on Oak View Group to rectify their operational shortcomings and manage the fallout. Initially praised for their PR efforts, they must now focus on consistent communication to rebuild trust.   The construction firms, like BAM, are currently under scrutiny for their role in the arena’s failures. They need to present a clear plan of action to resolve these issues. If they do this then I am sure we'll all be filling the Co-op Live soon after these few snags are out of the way!   PR crisis management steps Acknowledge and take responsibility - Oak View Group and BAM should openly acknowledge the issues, provide clear explanations, and outline corrective actions. Consistent messaging - Establish consistent messaging across all stakeholders and maintain open communication to avoid misinformation. Appoint media-trained spokespersons – Channel 5 wondered why no one was put up for interview. They should use trained spokespersons to convey key messages, offering transparency and reassurance to the public. Regular updates - Regularly update fans, artists, and stakeholders on progress, emphasising the safety of future events. Leverage social media - Use social media platforms to listen and reach out to the affected audience directly, ensuring swift and effective communication. Prepare for future crises -  Refine crisis communication plans based on the current situation, ensuring readiness for any future challenges.
