We were delighted to attend the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH SASI (Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative) Stakeholder Meeting in Berlin this week. A big thank you to the organizers for inviting us to present alongside the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT about our joint work on Croppie. We discussed how we are leveraging AI and EUDR to enhance smallholder farmer livelihoods. At Producers Direct, our vision for Croppie is to go beyond simply collecting data from farmers. Instead, we are building a tool that empowers farmers by giving them control over their own data, while offering them access to data-driven insights and services. Through our market access platform smallholder farmers in Uganda are navigating challenges like seasonal oversupply, especially with crops like bananas. With the support of youth agents, farmers are becoming more strategic by storing non-perishable crops during low-price periods and selling when market conditions are more favorable. By advising farmers on the best times to sell, youth agents are creating a seamless connection between farms and the market. By continuing to invest in and expand our youth agent network, we are providing farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive, even in the face of market fluctuations. #MarketAccess #FarmDirect #AgricultureInnovation

In late August we visited one of our partner cooperatives, CENFROCAFE in Cajamarca, Northern Peru. It was great to hear first-hand from young people how the Pret A Manger Foundation's Youth Project has supported them personally and financially in accessing agricultural and cooperative training spaces that generate economic and productive improvement opportunities. The impact has been significant during the annual trainings and project implementation, as well as for their families and communities. It has enabled the youth to take up leadership positions in the cooperative and their communities, work in coffee shops, implement diversified and climate resilient farms. A big thank you to CENFROCAFE for your hospitality and for the important work you do daily to strengthen your community. 📉 In July, our market access platform, Farm Direct, saw a slight fluctuation due to the seasonal oversupply of crops like bananas. However, with real-time market intelligence provided by the platform, farmers quickly adapted to these shifts. With support from our youth agents, many farmers stored non-perishable crops during low-price periods, selling them later when prices improved. Our youth agents guide farmers on the best times to sell and bridge the gap between farms and markets. By continuing to invest in and expand our youth agent network, we’re equipping farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive, even in challenging market conditions. #MarketAccess #YouthAgents #FarmerResilience
