Anti-Slavery Day 18th October marks Anti-Slavery Day in the UK and Europe, an important day for raising awareness of the horrific reality of modern slavery. Latest figures reveal that an estimated 50 million people are living in modern slavery worldwide at any given time. Of this shocking total, 27.6 million individuals are trapped in situations of forced labour—86% of which takes place within the private sector. Anti-Slavery Day was established in 2010 in an Act of Parliament to encourage governments, businesses, and individuals to take a stand against all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. It is a reminder that exploitation happens closer to home than many realise, with people being coerced, controlled, and exploited in ways that infringe on their basic human rights. PROMAN UK proudly attended the global meeting of PROMAN Group subsidiaries! 🙌🌍 Over two days in Provence, our Co-Managing Director Matthew Holt and Executive Director Liz Redfern (Atkinson) joined teams from 18 countries to shape the group's 2025 roadmap and strengthen our international bonds. We collaborated on future projects, exchanged valuable insights, and strategic discussions, topped off with plenty of fun! Global issues such as conflict, climate change and authoritarian regimes have increased risk for workers, leaving them more vulnerable to exploitation. It is estimated that there are now 50 million people living in conditions of modern slavery. Whether you need someone to talk to immediately or just want to understand your options, here are a few services that can offer support: • Samaritans – Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can call 116 123 for free at any time. • SHOUT – For free 24/7 text support if you're struggling to cope and need immediate help, text 'SHOUT' to 85258. • Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) – For anyone in the UK feeling down or needing someone to talk to. The helpline is open from 5pm to midnight on 0800 58 58 58. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you or someone you know is struggling, these resources are there to listen and provide support. Remember, you’re never alone. Across our offices, teams came together to enjoy coffee, cake, and conversation—all in support of a cause close to our hearts.
