Check out this brand new paper, published today, from our very own Ian Tyndall 👀
Our new paper published today - Waldeck, Berman-Roberts, Smyth, Riva, Adie, Holliman, Tyndall (2024) 'Unravelling perceived ostracism: The role of antagonistic traits and attachment orientation' in The Journal of Psychology. This study explored the Dark Tetrad (Narcissism, Machievellianism, Psychopathy, and Sadism) in the context of perceptions of social exclusion and ostracism and examined attachment style/attachment orientation. In a Latent Class Analysis the High Antagonisers (high in all 4 Dark Tetrad factors) reported highest levels of perceived ostracism. 🎉Some fantastic presentations were shared from our team at the Annual Research Conference 2024, held last week. So much time and commitment has been put into these projects, so an important opportunity to showcase all the hard work. We managed to snap a few photos too 📸 For more information about our research projects, how to get involved or to ask questions, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eMSC4GWz #research #psychology #criminology

Excellent to have the opportunity to share the recent work of the Who Thrives? Project and the findings of our systematic review at the Univeristy of Chichester’s annual research conference. It rounds off two incredibly interesting and thought provoking days of hearing about all the wonderful and diverse work happening across the university. In a world where there is not always enough time for academics to just ponder questions and discuss interesting topics - this has been a fantastic start to the new academic year! As always a huge thanks to my supervision team Ian Tyndall, Moitree Banerjee, and Andrew Holliman for helping to shape this work.

Had a great time at the University of Chichester 2024 Research Conference the last two days. Very honoured and grateful to have received the award for the best postgraduate research student poster at the conference. Benjamin T. Sharpe, PhD and I presented our study which explored the combination of arousal reappraisal and transcranial direct current stimulation over the left dorsolateral PFC and their effectiveness in improving performance in FPS esports. It was an excellent experience with a wide variety of very interesting presentations. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss parts of my PhD at future conferences. #Psychology #PhD #UniversityofChichester #esports #conference Psychology and Criminology - University of Chichester

Free access link to our new paper King, Buxton, & Tyndall (2024). Aphantasia and autism: An investigation of mental imagery. Consciousness and Cognition. https://lnkd.in/eiczBZmY #aphantasia #autism #mentalimagery #imageryvividness Rachel King Psychology and Criminology - University of Chichester University of Chichester Aphantasia is a condition where capacity to use or generate visual mental imagery is greatly reduced or entirely absent. Research with autistic people has sometimes reported superior mental visual imagery in autistic people compared to non-autistics while other studies have found reduced mental imagery compared to allistic or non-autistic persons. We found a small association between aphantasia and autism in our study, with autistic participants reporting on average, reduced mental imagery vividness and also emotional imagery vividness, but not in other imagery domains of Sound, Smell, Taste, Touch, Bodily Sensation.
