Tips and pointers on how to manage these transitions, what we have seen work best for partners themselves, and those guiding their firm's partners (the Board, Managing and Senior Partners). ✨ Welcoming Our 2024-25 qLegal Cohort! ✨ We’re delighted to introduce our new group of qLegal students. These past few weeks, we’ve been focused on recruiting and preparing them for an exciting year ahead. 🎯 This year, shortlisted students took part in our first-ever ‘assessment day,’ an in-person event featuring teamwork exercises that mirrored real law firm practices. The exercises were designed to best prepare students for the professional steps ahead, as well as allow for qLegal staff to assess their suitability to join qLegal. After the assessment, selected students attended accelerator days the following Saturday that introduced them to their respective programmes. 🥇 In addition to our core training, we’re equipping qLegal students with essential skills for the future of the legal profession. With advanced training on giving and receiving feedback, teamwork, emotional intelligence, interdisciplinary collaboration, critical thinking, and ethical considerations, they are ready for an AI-driven world. This knowledge serves as a foundation for the work they will do in one of our three programmes: Future of Law, Legal Advisory, or Externships. 🎉 A special thanks to our qLegal alumni and volunteers, Özlem Çorapçıoğlu, Huishan Chen and Xiaoyang Tong, for their invaluable support in making these training days a success! Stay tuned for more updates and success stories from qLegal! QMUL School of Law / qLegal #law #students #welcome #future #innovation #entrepreneurship

💡One of the key features of every successful candidate in getting TCs is getting familiar with politics and the current economic climate. All students part of the QMUL School of Law and Queen Mary University of London can make a registered Financial Times account and access what is happening in the UK, regarding Companies, Politics and the Economy, as well as various other important issues at the moment. 🤔Have a quick read of our First Year Rep’s small post, on some questions arising with Trump’s presidential win, and sign up to FT today to stay up to date!
🇺🇸Ex-President Trump is now officially projected to be the 47th President of the United States of America. Why is this important? As of this morning, the Dollar has soared, with the Bitcoin reaching an all-time high. Most markets are betting highly on Trump’s presidency and as such will have a massive effect on the rest of the world. Trump has been outspoken about setting higher tariffs, which may have a huge impact on investment into the US, with many companies opting to shift their operations into the States. On the other hand these tariffs may increase prices, force other countries to retaliate, similarly to how the EU retaliated by imposing tariffs on $3 billion US exports when Trump was last president, and, importantly to UK students, may have a MASSIVE impact on the UK economy. There is a great fear that these tariffs may push up the costs of imports. On top of this, with China likely experiencing a drop in exports to the US, UK may have to impose tariffs on China to prevent dumping of goods that would have been exported into the US. Lastly, Trump’s stance on diplomacy and his position with the War in Ukraine, may considerably change the way the UK government spends money, once again impacting markets. 💡Overall, I highly recommend students, graduates, and all interested in the UK to keep an eye out on Trump’s presidency and the US economy, as there may truly be a large impact on the UK and the work we see ourselves doing in the future. EDIT: Donald Trump is officially elected president. What are your thoughts? Personally, I am quite excited to see how this turns out for UK and EU markets! Let’s hope for the best🙏 #USPresidentialElections2024 #Trump2024 #UKEconomy #UKCompanies #LawStudents
