  • It’s Pi Day—3.14! This week at QRT, we celebrated π (Pi) in all its infinite mystery—exchanging fun facts, enjoying delicious pies (from apple to pizza!), and getting creative with a Pi-themed art competition. Colleagues embraced their creativity as cooks, sketch artists, and AI enthusiasts, sometimes running as wild as Pi itself... Hap’Pi Day to all!

  • Exciting news: we're building a Data Centre… in Iceland🧊! As the demand for accelerated compute continues to grow, we're expanding our capacity with a new data centre in Iceland. Why Iceland? Beyond its breath-taking landscapes, the country offers a thriving data centre market, naturally cool temperatures (perfect for keeping GPUs efficient), and 100% renewable energy—primarily from hydro and geothermal sources. Stay tuned for more information.

  • Last week, new colleagues from our Shanghai, Mumbai, Singapore, and Hong Kong offices came together for a week-long programme combining insightful lectures with hands-on practical sessions, designed to set them up for success in their roles at QRT. But it wasn’t all work! A dragon boat challenge brought out the competitive spirit in true team-building style, and we wrapped it all up with a closing party overlooking Singapore’s stunning skyline. A big thank you to everyone who took part—we’re excited for what’s ahead.

  • 🔬✨International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Today, we recognise the incredible contributions of women in STEM and the need for greater representation—especially in tech and finance. At QRT, we are passionate about maths and science and strive to share this passion, helping to inspire and support more young women in STEM. Through hands-on experiences and financial support, we invest in initiatives at various levels: 🔬 Research: We sponsor female PhD research students during their studies and provide financial support for women joining prestigious research programmes, such as IHP in Paris. 🎓 University: We offer scholarships and bursaries for young women studying mathematics, computer science, engineering sciences, or AI at partner universities, including ENS Paris-Saclay, ENS Ulm, CentraleSupélec, and the University of Warwick. 📚 Secondary school: We support STEM weekends where young girls engage with female mathematicians at ENS Paris-Saclay, fund maths exhibitions, summer camps or programmes for underrepresented students at Manchester University, Paris Dauphine University, and CentraleSupélec. Over the next two weeks, we'll also be welcoming young students from underrepresented backgrounds to our QRT offices in London and Paris to challenge stereotypes and inspire ambition. A huge thank you to our colleagues for their dedication and engagement. We’ll continue to invest and encourage young women in STEM—fostering innovation and excellence for the many years to come.

  • Continuing a tradition initiated in 2022, we had the pleasure of co-organising with Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques - IHES an inspiring scientific conference at QRT’s London office. On 30 January, we welcomed Hugo Duminil-Copin, Permanent Professor at IHES and 2022 Fields Medal laureate, for a talk titled "Does Randomness Exist?". Around 250 QRT employees attended – both in person and online - engaging in discussions with Professor Duminil-Copin, who is also a member of the French Académie des Sciences and a Professor at the University of Geneva.   We remain committed to fostering scientific research and were proud to announce the renewal of our support for IHES for the fourth consecutive year. Our contribution will specifically support the 2025 IHES Summer Schools on Statistical Aspects of Nonlinear Physics and Discrete Subgroups of Lie Groups: Dynamics, Actions, Rigidity. A huge thank you to Hugo Duminil-Copin for sharing his expertise and making this event truly special. We are looking forward to continuing this tradition in 2025!

  • Earlier this week, we came together in-person and online for our first internal Quarterly Update of 2025. The event, held simultaneously in Hong Kong and London, highlighted the incredible work of our Asia-Pacific offices and reinforced our global unity. Moments like these remind us of the strength in our shared vision and the collective achievements that shape our future. Here’s to the next quarter and beyond – driving success together!

  • The 2025 QRT ENS Challenge Data has just kicked off! After exploring the intersection of sport and data last year in celebration of the 2024 Olympic Games, this year, we’re partnering with Gustave Roussy, a leading European cancer research centre, to explore how data sets can improve and personalise cancer treatment. With real data from 24 clinical centres, you can develop models to improve survival predictions, helping to tailor treatments and enhance patient outcomes. If you're thinking about a career in applied research, these global challenges are a great way to gain first-hand experience. Link to the challenge: https://lnkd.in/eFWAyCAn Special thanks to ENS Challenge Data and Data Lab Institut Louis Bachelier for making this possible year after year. We're thrilled to collaborate with you for the 6th consecutive time!

  • At QRT, we work together to build strategies… but sometimes, we also build structures – channelling our collaboration and skills to support communities. Over the past few months, our teams in India, Singapore, London, and Hong Kong partnered with Splash Projects to support meaningful local charitable initiatives. Together, we’ve contributed to impactful projects that make a difference, while also uncovering new abilities (including the art of wielding a hammer!). As we look ahead, here’s to building and achieving even more in 2025. https://lnkd.in/e36zSjdW
