Engineering solutions to complex problems

About us

Randle Engineering, established in 1994, is a design and development consultancy specialising in the application of core engineering principals to solve complex problems. Originally with a chassis and suspension bias, successful projects now cover cross sector expertise including automotive, off-road, motorsport, commercial, amphibious and military through to surgical and agricultural robots, advanced groundwork applications and landing gear. The most important aspect of the operation is a ‘first principles’ approach to problem solving, meaning each design or model begins in its simplest possible form, to ensure a thorough understanding develops along with the work.

Do you need to analyse the Ride and Handling attributes of your vehicle concept or benchmark a competitor? RS-Auto, our commercially available suite of design and analysis tools, delivers “right-sized” toolsets that allow you to quickly develop a consistent chassis target book, layout suspension concepts and analyse vehicle ride & handling performance. Here, we give some more insight into the third software module that completes a comprehensive ride and handling analysis in a highly efficient parameterised simulation environment. ·        What does it do? ·        Why is it special? ·        What benefits does it bring for users? ·        What are its key features? Contact us for more information or to arrange a demo – RS-Auto can integrate into your current workflow and complement your existing tools. We’re here to help you drive your projects forward.

As the automotive industry advances towards higher levels of automation, vehicle manufacturers are increasingly integrating ‘X-by-wire’ systems – such as throttle-by-wire, shift-by-wire and brake-by-wire – to support automated driving functions. Unlike other X-by-wire systems that have seen widespread adoption, steer-by-wire has remained a rarity in series production vehicles. Most manufacturers have opted for electric power assisted steering (EPAS) to enable their automated driving features. However, steer-by-wire offers significant advantages over EPAS, including enhanced handling characteristics, greater flexibility in component packaging and the ability to tune steering feel late into the development process. Download our white paper exploring these advantages and contrasting them with the challenges manufacturers face in developing steer-by-wire systems for series production. Are you using large, high-fidelity models that take too long to build to generate your initial suspension system requirements? These models don’t offer reliable insight to the vehicle design process. RS-Auto, our in-house developed suite of design and analysis tools, delivers “right-sized” toolsets that allow you to quickly develop a consistent chassis target book, layout suspension concepts and analyse vehicle ride & handling performance. Here, we give some more insight into the first software module, focussed on chassis target setting. ➡ What does it do? ➡ Why is it special? ➡ What benefits does it bring for users? ➡ What are its key features? At the end of a busy Cenex Expo week we are reflecting on a whirlwind few days of activity for the Randle Engineering team. We started on Tuesday with our CEO, Ally McMahon, presenting to a packed room for the Cenex Innovation enabler event with Ennis & Co Group and Freeths. Our booth at Cenex Expo then saw a constant stream of visitors, with hardly an opportunity to pause and reflect on the discussions. Looking back, its clear to see the value of the interactions with friends, former colleagues and new connections at this event, helping us raise the profile of Randle Engineering in the vibrant automotive innovation community. The first afternoon saw our Technical Sales Manager, Rob Capaldi present how innovation flows through the veins of Randle Engineering. Highlighting our ability to deliver efficient and robust projects and products for our clients, with the application of our in-house developed toolset. There were a range of interesting and unique vehicles on display, we know the time and effort that goes into developing new technologies and proving them out on a running prototype. The 'live' demonstrations are a great endorsement of this effort, showing that these concepts are far beyond 'on paper' studies. Now the really exciting part starts - continuing the discussions stated at the show to form new partnerships and collaborations with other innovative companies. Remember to sign up for our white paper on steer-by-wire technology, it may spark an interest to kick start a discussion. #Innovation #Engineering #Cenexpo2024 #CenexExpo2024
