A charity that enables young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing
About us
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies. Our vision Our vision is that every young person develops: • The knowledge, skills, and confidence to use computers and digital technologies effectively in their work, community, and personal life; to solve problems and to express themselves creatively • Sufficient understanding of societal and ethical issues to be able to critically evaluate digital technologies and their application, and to design and use technology for good • The mindsets that enable them to confidently engage with technological change and to continue learning about new and emerging technologies Our long-term goals 1. Education: To enable any school to teach students about computing and how to create with digital technologies, through providing the best possible curriculum, resources, and training for teachers. 2. Non-formal learning: To engage millions of young people in learning about computing and how to create with digital technologies outside of school, through online resources and apps, clubs, competitions, and partnerships with youth organisations. 3. Research: To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.

Our #RPFSeminars are back after a long summer break 🫶 In October, we will be hearing from Arto Hellas and Juho Leinonen from Aalto University about "Teaching and learning computer science with rapidly evolving generative AI models". In this talk, they will be outlining their experiences utilising #GenerativeAI for a wide variety of teaching tasks, such as exercise generation, responding to student help requests, as well as teaching students how to prompt large language models. They'll also be discussing their experiences organising an undergraduate course on software engineering with large language models, where the rapid evolution of the field presents both challenges and opportunities. Date: 8 October 2024 Time: 17:00–18:30 BST (12:00 EDT / 9:00 PDT / 18:00 CEST) We hope you can join us. Looking for a fun coding activity to do with your kids? In this project, they will create a game of rock, paper, scissors that they can play against the computer: they will make the gestures with their hands and have the computer recognise them 🪨 📄 ✂️ In this version of the game, the computer is going to cheat — it will recognise the player’s move and choose the object that will beat it!
