According to new research from the Bridge Group and JLL UK Foundation, an average of only 22% of real estate employees are from lower socio-economic backgrounds. This compares with 39% of the total UK workforce, 29% in law and 33% in financial services. Real Estate Balance reposted this
With International Women’s Day tomorrow, I’m thinking back to The Legacy Project Report 2024 created by Grainger Reis and Real Estate Balance. This insightful research examined the gender equality gap in Real Estate, and highlighted some of the key challenges women face working in the industry. The catalyst for this research was a trend of women increasingly stepping back, not pushing for advancements in their career, and in some cases leaving the industry all together. See some of the findings below in the slides from the event, including some of the roadblocks to leadership: - A lack of flexible working - Promotion and development blockers - Not enough visible role models & male allyship - A need for greater levels of support systems & networks And how can we create change? - Develop flexible working policies - Promote and develop female talent - Foster male allyship & visible role models - Build support systems & network - Challenge culture & institutional barriers You can find out more and read the report over on Real Estate Balance's website: https://lnkd.in/eMqmAegi
