Our Head of Marketing and Content, Sioned Thomas (MCIWM), joined forces with Plan Zheroes - The Zero Food Waste Heroes – at letsrecycle.com's National Food Waste Conference 2025. Sioned, alongside Dee Vadukul, Fundraising Relationship Manager, delivered an insightful presentation on "Working Collaboratively: Making Use of Surplus Food." They explored how organisations can minimise food waste and optimise redistribution efforts to benefit local communities. At Recorra, we’re proud to partner with Plan Zheroes, supporting our joint mission to reduce food waste and provide vital resources to those in need.
Last Thursday it was a pleasure to speak alongside Dee Vadukul from Plan Zheroes - The Zero Food Waste Heroes on behalf of Recorra at letsrecycle.com's National Food Waste Conference 2025. Our talk 'Working Collaboratively: Making use of Surplus Food' outlined how our organisations are working in partnership to help organisations redistribute their surplus food. We covered some key statistics around food waste from businesses, the challenges and realities of redistributing surplus food and how Recorra and Plan Zheroes have been working together to overcome these challenges. We also outlined some success stories from the last 12 months and how we hope to see many more over the next few years. #foodwaste

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 – 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 This International Women's Day, we are celebrating the countless achievements of women around the world. Today, we celebrate the proud history of advancing gender equality and recognise the barriers still in place to many women. This year's theme of #AccelerateAction means being bold, strong and feminine advancing forward toward gender equality. Accelerating action means moving beyond only awareness and celebration to take tangible actions for all women across work, politics, education and society. 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 ♻️👷♀️ The waste industry is a traditionally male dominated industry. Only an estimated 27% of the UK’s waste workforce are women, with a reported gender pay gap of 14.3%. Nationwide and across industries, women hold a lower than representative number of senior roles in businesses. All of this makes Recorra even prouder of our team and our #WomenInWaste. ▪️ 50% of the Board of Directors are women ▪️ 45.5% of the Senior Operational Board are women ▪️ We are leaders in female representation in line management, with 33% being female ▪️ A significantly lower than the industry and national average gender pay gap of 2.19% Recorra are accelerating action with our leading women in waste! #InternationalWomensDay #AcceleratingAction

Our Partnership & Engagement Manager, Matthew McVeigh visited Broadgate Estates to present at the Social Mobility Business Partnership. Presenting to students from Stepney All Saints School and Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, Matt led an interactive session on career opportunities in the waste management sector and highlighted the crucial role of recycling in sustainability. ♻️
Last week, I had a fantastic day presenting at the Social Mobility Business Partnership Work Insight & Skills Week! 🌍💡 Spending the morning with the students of Stepney All Saints School & Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, we used the session to discuss different sustainability careers within the #wastemanagement sector, the importance of #recycling practices, and how to engage with an audience effectively. 🎭♻️ Coming from a background in musical theatre before transitioning into sustainability, I loved sharing my journey to highlight that career paths are ever-evolving—your teenage years don’t define your future! Thank you to Sabina Mistura from British Land for inviting Recorra to join at Broadgate Estates. Looking forward to more career days!
