Clocks go back on Sunday morning! Take extra care. The October change with clocks going back by one hour means mornings are lighter earlier, and the darkness at night also comes earlier. The change is made very early this Sunday - 27th October 2024. Road collisions do worsen at this time of year - the combination of darker evenings, often wet, wintery and therefore slippery road surfaces and drivers' vision being impaired means the on-road risk is greater. Be more alert for pedestrians and cyclists in poor light too - remember the Highway Code hierarchy of vulnerable road users! Drive extra carefully as you adapt to this change (and if your vehicle doesn't do it for you automatically, don't forget to change your in-vehicle's clock too - while you're stationary and safe!).

  • RED is delighted to support TyreSafe and particularly tyre safety month. October is a month in the calendar to remind all drivers of the critical role tyres play as the single contact points with the road surface. A.C.T. especially in Tyre Safety Month. Remind your drivers! A: Air Pressure! C: Condition! T: Tread! What an exhilarating and eye-opening bonus experience!   Amy Hartley and Colin Paterson – from RED's Marketing & Communications team - managed to get a brief but valuable insight into the professionalism and skills required to drive an HGV.   During last Saturday’s 'RED Driving Instructor of the Year' (DIOTY) finale, in between helping support the event for our RED instructors, both managed to get time learning to handle a truck on RED’s private tarmac lake at Donington Park thanks to Alan Appleby, one of RED's resident trainers at our dedicated training centre. (In the D.I.O.T.Y., our instructors were challenged with reversing the truck successfully as one of many fun but testing driving challenges during the day to determine RED's Driving Instructor of the Year 2024).   RED offers the opportunity for individuals (or drivers already in a business who want to move from vans to trucks) to train to acquire their professional driving licence. The 18,000kg Renault rigid vehicle was good to drive with plenty of driver assistance systems, but both Amy & Colin realised what it takes to be a true professional and safe driver on the road. Reversing a particular skill!   Find out more about this service from RED Corporate Driver Training here : https://lnkd.in/e9HPRUAW And thanks for your help and patience, Alan!
