We've had a fantastic response from the local community all coming together to help us put on the FREE Liscard Summer Festival on Saturday 13th July from 11am to 5pm. This collaboration through Liscard Together Partnership will hopefully see the start of more events and activities happening in and around Liscard Town Centre. We are so lucky to have Rosemary Campbell SEND Coach with us this morning taking parents and carers through the EHC process and sharing strategies and practical solutions for all the battles and challenges that comes with it. Week 5 of our Resilient project, the cooking challenge. We planned the 2 course meal last week as part of our budgeting session and today went to Asda to buy the ingredients. Everyone was on the look out for bargains and special offers to make our money go further. Back to the kitchen to cook chicken and tomato pasta, with a veggie version and a Spanish tortilla. We finished off with the tastiest Victoria Sponge ever. Very few in our latest group had cooked a meal from scratch so all got stuck in to the challenge. To see the look on their faces was brilliant, especially when the sponge cake came out looking fab. Fantastic teamwork all round from shopping to cooking the meal and cleaning up it took us just under 2 hrs to do it! Even better the meal worked out at £2.47 each person and we still had leftovers to take home. 👏 Fab day all round thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund to make this possible. Week 2 of our new Resilient project and we were lucky enough to have the wonderful Alex join us who took us all through a mindfulness session. We are all so busy with life's ups and downs so it was so fantastic for our new group, including our staff and volunteers, to be completely absorbed in what we were doing, to switch off and relax. We finished off by creating sensory sea shell bottles which were such a suberb thing to make. Thanks Alex, you were fab! We are so grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for getting behind our project and helping us reach more young people who need support. Fantastic day spent with the lovely team from Wirral Mencap at their Have Fun Keep Well Event at Birkenhead Youth Club. We were made to feel so welcome and we had a great day chatting to lots of new people telling them about our next Resilient project starting in April as well as making new contacts and catching up with some old friends. Exciting news! Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund registration for our next Resilient project is now open! This project is for anyone aged 16 to 30 particularly anyone who is feeling a bit rundown, deflated and needing a confidence boost. We cover a wide range of topics over the 8 weeks including cooking, learning how to make your money go further, employability and creative digital media skills. Most important of all we offer a warm and friendly welcome to make you feel at home and a chance to make some new connections and friends. Registering for a place is so easy! Great day at Liverpool Football Club attending the Road to Work Big Youth Event organised by Jobcentre Plus.
