We're proud to announce our recent recognitions at this year’s Overseas Press Club Awards, including an award for the ‘Fentanyl Express’ series and two citations. Fentanyl Express exposed how the Chinese fentanyl chemicals fueling America’s deadly opioid crisis are cheap and easy to get – and why authorities are failing to stop them. Citations were given to Reuters' mohammed salem for his courageous photographic reporting in Gaza, alongside ‘The Starving World’ series, which exposed the causes of the global hunger-relief crisis and explored solutions. Congratulations to all Reuters staff involved in these projects. Learn more about the awards here: https://ow.ly/U8xa50Vlwbb

As the awards season is coming to an end, access a behind the scenes perspective from Reuters reporters as they prepared for the 97th Academy Awards - including how speed is of the essence when covering ceremonies. “When a photographer takes a picture, the editor sees it instantly, chooses the best frame, crops it, the metadata’s added to it and then it goes out to the wire. And all of that is literally 30 seconds or a minute at most", says Mike Blake, Senior Photographer at Reuters.
