🚨 It's time to prioritise mental health and suicide prevention in the workplace 🚨 With 12% of employees reporting suicidal thoughts at work (Champion Health, 2024), it’s clear that businesses need to take urgent action. Yet, while fire safety is legally mandated, there is no similar requirement in the UK for suicide prevention or mental health safeguarding in the workplace. Our research showed that: ❓ 77% of employees are unaware of any suicide prevention policies in their workplace. 🚫 21% do not have anyone at work that they would feel comfortable talking to if they were struggling with their mental health. 🚪 44% have left or considered leaving a job due to poor mental health support. R;pple is calling on all businesses to step up. It’s time to make suicide prevention as standard as fire drills—ensuring every employee feels safe, supported, and heard. Pledge today and commit to creating a safer, more supportive workplace - https://lnkd.in/enZKRa9C Together, let’s lead the change in workplace mental health. 💜 #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellbeing #SuicidePrevention #RppleEffect #SupportAndIntervention #PledgeForChange #MentalHealthAwareness

🚨 Tragic Consequences: A Call for Safer AI 🚨 The heartbreaking story of Sewell Setzer, a 14-year-old who took his life after interactions with chatbots on Character.AI, has deeply affected us all. Our founder, Alice Hendy MBE, shares her thoughts: “Chatbots operate within the confines of pre-set parameters and data-driven responses. They lack the depth of understanding necessary to navigate the complex emotional landscapes of those who turn to them in moments of despair. The illusion of empathy offered by chatbots can be dangerously misleading, particularly for vulnerable individuals seeking genuine connection. We must advocate for the development of AI systems that prioritise user safety, incorporating robust ethical guidelines and mental health support mechanisms. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of Sewell and send his family all my love.” This devastating incident underscores the urgent need for safer, more ethical AI development. We owe it to young people and vulnerable users everywhere to ensure that digital tools are supportive, responsible, and safe. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Sewell’s family. Let’s push for change together, and make sure no one else has to experience such a tragic loss. #MentalHealthMatters #AIEthics #UserSafety #DigitalWellbeing #MentalHealthSupport #ProtectTheVulnerable #RppleEffect
