Free ‘home away from home’ accommodation in 14 Houses in the UK for families to stay close to their child in hospital.
About us
Sometimes, the best medical care for your child isn’t close to home. When a child falls ill, families can find themselves at a specialist hospital far from home. They might be there for weeks or months; in an unfamiliar city, with unfamiliar faces. Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free family accommodation across the UK, located moments away from the children’s ward for as long as they need. Find out more at rmhc.org.uk Ronald McDonald House Charities (UK) is an independent charity registered in England and Wales (802047) and in Scotland (SC040717). We think all our supporters deserve a medal... and young Kai just got one! 🏅 We want to say a huge congratulations to Kai Saint, the inspiring 10 year-old who last month was presented with the British Citizen Youth Award by Kimberly Wyatt! 🤩 Kai was recognised with the BCyA Medal of Honour to celebrate all of his incredible fundraising with Team 1C, which supports a number of good cause, including Ronald McDonald House Charities UK. The youngster's been passionate to help other children and their families after her was born with a complex and lifelong cardiac condition. He's had three open-heart surgeries as a baby, suffering from two cardiac arrests. When Kai had his life-saving surgeries in Alder Hey Children's Hospital, his mum Chanel and family were far from their home in Lancashire, so they stayed in our Alder Hey House. 🏡 Now 10 years old, despite a leaking heart valve and a hole in his heart, Kai doesn't consider himself poorly and has continued to use all this strength to overcome some huge fundraising challenges. Every year Kai takes part in Team 1c's sponsored 1k walk, raising funds for cardiac charities in order to help other cardiac condition sufferers. But in 2022, Kai was unable to take part in the walk. Determined to give something back to the charity that kept his family close in their of need, he set himself a personal challenge of completing a triathlon for our charity and raised more than £1,700. 🙌 Kai has gone on to do so much for Team 1c and his community. We're so proud to see him get the recognition we deserves, and we're so grateful to have his support alongside all of Team1c! ❤️ 📸: British Citizen Awards

Happy Diwali from everyone at Ronald McDonald House Charities UK! 🪔 To celebrate the festival of lights, our Birmingham House was honoured to receive these amazing Diwali hampers from Diwali Basket Brigade. Diwali Basket Brigade puts together hundreds of hampers filled with donated goods from the community, and this year they had a very special volunteer... our Birmingham House Manager, Vishal! 🤩 Being able to help out at this event held an extra special meaning for Vishal this year as he helped prepare the hampers that were being made for families staying in the Birmingham House, as well as other charities and communities. Vishal even got a chance to catch up with the previous Chair of our Birmingham House Board, Doug Wright MBE. We want to say a huge thank you to the Diwali Basket Brigade for all their continued support for our charity - we are so proud to celebrate with you every year. 🙌 With this festival of lights, may you find true joy, prosperity, and love. We’re wishing you and your loved ones a very happy Diwali. ❤️

When your child is in hospital, there is often a lot of long nights and waiting time on the ward, this can be especially hard when you have other young children. 🏥 We are so grateful for all of our supporters that help keep our families entertained in our Ronald McDonald Houses. 🙌 Our Manchester House recently received an incredibly thoughtful donation from our friends British Gas, providing us with special packs for children, complete with colouring books and treats. 🎨😍 These went down an absolute treat with our families, with many parents taking them over to their child in hospital to help them embrace their creativity and brighten up their days. ❤️

How long would you last in a bath full of baked beans? 🤯 An incredible McDonald's restaurant from Chesterfield has been fundraising for our Charity all year, and they just took on a very saucy challenge! Franchisee Sam Wright and five team members took a bean bath for an hour each, raising £700 in just one day, adding to their running total of more than £15,000. 👏 They even donated their unopened tins of baked beans and spaghetti hoops to a local food bank! Thank you so much to everyone involved for all the support for our families in their time of need. ❤️
