Last week our HSE team were delighted to host a visit from Ulster University's Environmental Health course. 👷♀️👷 The students were given a site tour and a presentation explaining how we manage some of the health & safety and environmental risks specific to the foundry sector.

Inspiring Future Minds: Local Employers Bring Real-World Insights to Schools The Science Summer School Initiative has kicked off with two inspirational employer and school engagement activities, bringing local businesses into schools to inspire and educate students about the future of work in #STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths). As part of this exciting initiative, #Carrickfergus Academy and St Louis Grammar School, #Ballymena were the first to host leading local employers for insightful and interactive talks. At Carrickfergus Academy, students had the opportunity to hear from representatives of Ryobi Die Casting, Inc. and Kilwaughter Minerals Ltd. Ryobi delivered and engaging session on the use of technology in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), showcasing how innovation drives precision and efficiency in manufacturing. Kilwaughter Minerals followed with an informative discussion on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Crime, helping students understand the impact of these technologies have on modern industries. Meanwhile, St Louis Grammar in #Ballymena welcomed Wrightbus to their school to celebrate the European Day of Languages, where the company shared how the use of languages plays a pivotal role in their local and global operations. Wrightbus emphasised the importance of multilingual communication in advancing their business and how language skills are becoming essential in today’s interconnected #economy. This engagement between schools and employers is a core element of the Science Summer School initiative, designed to bridge the gap between education and industry, and to equip students with the knowledge and inspiration to pursue careers in #science, #technology, #engineering, and #mathematics (#STEM). The Science Summer School initiative continues to roll out across more schools in the region, with further activities planned throughout the year.
