✨ Star-Studded Jury Lineup for the Inaugural Rose International Dance Prize Today, we have appointed five judges to select the inaugural Rose International Dance Prize winners. The shortlisted choreographers will present their choreographic works in early 2025. The jury members are Christopher Bannerman, dancer, choreographer and academic, PJ Harvey, award winning musician and performer, Karthika Nair, poet, dance producer and curator, Dame Arlene Philips, renowned choreographer, TV judge and presenter, Samuel Ross MBE, fashion designer, artist and creative director. 🌹 About Rose International Dance Prize - The Rose International Dance Prize is a biennial prize for new dance creations in any style. Between 29 January – 8 February 2025, seven finalists will present their work here at Sadler’s Wells, watched by the five judges along with a public audience, in a showcase of some of the most inventive and daring choreographic work today. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday 8 February following the final performances. Our Artistic Director and Co-Chief Executive, Sir Alistair Spalding CBE said: ‘We are delighted that Christopher, Polly, Karthika, Arlene and Samuel will be judging the very first iteration of the Rose International Dance Prize. The prize, which has been funded for the next 20 years, will affect real change in the choreographic community, supporting two choreographers at different stages of their career and empowering them to take their work to new heights. Our jury hold a wealth of experience within dance and informed views from other cultural disciplines, and we are so pleased that they will be bringing this expertise to the awards.” The Rose International Dance Prize consists of two categories. The Rose category offers a £40,000 award for established choreographers presenting a full-length performance of 50 minutes or longer, and the Bloom category is a £15,000 prize for emerging choreographers with no more than ten years’ experience. Both winners will receive an award designed by artist and stage designer Es Devlin CBE. Four Rose Prize productions and three Bloom Prize productions have been shortlisted by choreographers from Taiwan, France, Brazil, America, Israel, Portugal and Greece.
