Some of the SALT team had a fantastic discussion at our latest book club meeting last week, diving deep into Jeanette Winterson's classic, "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit." The semi-autobiographical novel took us on a thought-provoking journey through themes of identity, family, religion, and the courage to define one's own path. If you haven't read this book yet, we highly recommend it. It's a story that stays with you and invites readers to consider the complexities of life in a whole new light. It's a chance to share the love and thank our colleagues - they can also turn their sovereigns into a charity donation! The team had an incredible time celebrating SALT's 10-year anniversary at our summer party last Friday! 🎈 Thanks to The Mansion at Roundhay Park for hosting us and SALT's Nichola and Linda for organising such a wonderful day. Games, giggles, good food, and even better company - what more could you ask for? One of the most stress-inducing parts of being an SEO is not seeing your carefully thought-out recommendations actually getting implemented. This prevents you from hitting KPIs, analysing the effects of your strategy, and road-mapping future activities. Instead of feeling frustrated by this, ask yourself why the tasks you've actioned aren't being implemented and find a way to resolve the issue. Some of the reasons may be: ❗You haven't set a deadline or a priority marker - Remember that your client has other focuses and won't always be aware of how crucial your recommendations are. 💡Your client isn’t aware of the tasks - They may not have checked the comms platform you're using for updates. Ensure you know their preferred method of communication and deliver reminders of important tasks that way if you haven’t received a response. 📈 You haven’t explained the purpose of said improvement – Always explain why you’ve made a recommendation. What is it going to achieve? How will it affect performance? 🎯 The actions don’t fit with your client’s goals/priorities—Your recommendations may seem important to you, but if they don’t align with your client’s focuses, you can expect them to be left on the back-burner. ⌛ The client doesn’t have the resources—A lack of tech support, staff, knowledge, and time can all delay implementation. Ensure you’re not overdelivering and work out ways you can provide support, whether it be offering to implement optimizations yourself or creating documentation to help them with implementations. 😰 The client is overwhelmed—When a lack of resources and a mountain of recommendations pile up, this can seem impossible for the client to manage. Find ways to reorganise your deliverables so that they are easier to manage, such as creating one master document for all tasks.

We've been busy celebrating our 10-year anniversary the past couple of weeks, and we can't wait for our BIG summer party on Friday to say thank you to our colleagues and SALT friends. 🎈 As a further gesture of gratitude, we've prepared a personalised gift for each of our colleagues.
