With time moving fast and constantly learning something new, I find it important to take time to look back and reflect. This summer I had the opportunity to join Network Rail as a Strategic Resource and Reporting Intern, which would not have been possible without the support and nurturing of my leadership skills and entreprenurial mindset through the Saltire Scholars Programme by Entrepreneurial Scotland.
Working together with Aina Jenkins-Garcia, another fellow intern from the Change Management team, was a very exciting opportunity as we got to work with many different stakeholders around the organisation and develop our understanding of working in a professional environment. Our project focused on rationalising the road fleet of Scotland's Railway, a multi-faceted and complicated pursuit that involved detailed data extraction and analysis as well as PowerBI utilization.
I would like to thank my line manager, Jane Conway, who fully supported me during my internship, raising my spirit and fostering my data skills at the same time. I am greatly thankful for the support of our mentor for the project, Alyson McGinnigle, who not only bolstered our creative mindsets but also encouraged a resilient and open-mindeded approach, especially during setbacks.
As a result of the project we collated our findings in a detailed report, and also got to present our findings to executives across the organisation. I am particularly proud of this achievement since our findings allowed us to use our problem solving skills through suggesting innovative solutions that inspired a further action plan for the relevant teams. I will forever be grateful for this unforgettable and adventurous opportunity for accelerating my career.🌟
