This week, we extend a warm welcome to our new Deputy Principal, Curriculum and Skills, Asa Gordon. He joins Lisa Capper MBE, the new CEO and Principal, who also took up her post this week. With a wealth of experience in academic leadership, Asa joins us with a strong vision for developing the skills pipeline that serves young people, adults, and apprentices across Sandwell and the West Midlands. With his vast experience in academic leadership, Asa is set to drive forward our mission of empowering learners at every stage. His focus on high-quality curriculum and skills will help ensure our students are well-prepared for their chosen careers and equipped to make a meaningful impact in today’s evolving job market. Central Campus Sandwell College is one of the newest FE Colleges in the UK and is a landmark for the development of education and training in the region. Situated in an iconic building in the heart of West Bromwich, the College attracts learners from across Birmingham and the Black Country. The majority of our learners are 16-18 and studying on full time courses; either vocational courses designed to prepare them for the modern workplace or academic study in our brand new sixth form Central Sixth. We also welcome thousands of adult learners on to a wide variety of full time, part time and short courses ranging from Entry Level to Foundation Degrees, Level 5 vocational programmes and CPD programmes. We also have a rapidly expanding apprenticeship programme and a broad range of training courses designed to meet the needs of regional and local employers including work-based learning, bespoke training and short courses to suit the demands of individual businesses.
