The Science Council promotes understanding of the role and importance of scientists and the science community by working collectively with professional bodies and learned societies in the UK. We recognise the range of knowledge, experience and professionalism within the science community, which is sought after by employers and demanded by the public, through our professional registers.

    The Science Council want to understand how your organisation can be best supported to offer technical education placements, regardless of whether you currently offer them, and they have commissioned specialist research agency Shift Insight to conduct a survey and interviews. Share your perspective on support mechanisms for employers in this 5-minute survey for a chance to win one of three £100 prizes. This research forms part of the Technical Pathways Project, aimed at understanding and uplifting technical pathways in the UK.     Laurence Dawkins-Hall B.Sc. CBiol, CSci, FIScT, FRSB is a finalist in the LAB Awards 2024 for the 'Commitment to Skills & Training' category. Laurence is an award-winning life sciences technician with an international CV, holding two sets of Fellowships for “distinguished conduct” pertaining to professional registration. Laurence also holds the awards of Chartered Scientist (CSci) and Chartered Biologist (Cbiol). Over the last 5 years, he has delivered and facilitated registration workshops across the UK at conferences, events, industrial forums and online. He is a true a champion in the community! We are grateful to Laurence who volunteers as an applicant support mentor for the Science Council. Lab Innovations 2024 is taking place on 30 & 31 October 2024. 🌟Laurence, we wish you the best of luck at the Awards Ceremony!

This 12-page resource introduces how T Level Science can deliver the skilled workforce your business needs and explains the benefits of placements. The resource is based around case studies from science employers who already offer placements and addresses common concerns, such as insurance, confidentiality and safeguarding. The RA is responsible to the Board of Trustees, and 2025 is an important year for the Science Council. We will publish our new strategy and begin a review of standards for professional registration.
