Today we have published our strategy for 2025-28, 'Elevating the science workforce'. Professor Della Freeth, chief executive, said: “Everyone at the Science Council is excited and energised as we enter the next strategic period. We will be simplifying and improving everything we do, making sure our focus is supporting and growing our community, and promoting high professional standards. “A huge thanks to everyone who has helped us develop this vision and will deliver it with us. We would not be able to do all that we do without our members and volunteers.” https://lnkd.in/dV5qUWuW

At 12 Noon on Monday, I'll be chairing a Science Council 'lunch and learn' called 'Beyond Boundaries: Interdisciplinary Insights from Environmental Science for #BritishScienceWeek. The speakers will be Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) President Julie Hill MBE and Prof. Gary Kass, University of Surrey. We will be exploring how environmental science brings together a multitude of traditional scientific disciplines, social science and emerging disciplines to understand the natural world and solve environmental challenges. At the core of environmental science are key concepts such as interdisciplinarity, systems thinking and delivery which provide lessons and frameworks for all scientists to think about how their science can be configured to solve grand challenges. You can book your free ticket at https://lnkd.in/esjQmf2B?.
