Over 600 employers and apprentices have signed a letter urging HM Treasury not to defund level 7 apprenticeships. Coordinated by University Alliance, the letter amassed over 400 testimonials from signatories, and emphasised that workers in all stages of their careers should be able to upskill and retrain. Given that 71% of jobs in 2035 will be held by those already in the workforce, defunding high-level training will not deliver the high-skill, high-productivity workforce the UK needs. 🚨 Welcome to our newest cohort of Science Industry Ambassadors! 🚨 This week at AstraZeneca in Macclesfield, a group of apprentices trained as Science Industry Ambassadors. Through an interactive workshop, they practiced engaging young people and discussed challenges and opportunities in their careers. Science Industry Ambassadors work with young people, parents, teachers and careers advisers to promote the range of careers in the science-based industries, helping dispel myths and and stereotypes. 📣 Calling all North West Life Science employers 📣 Join us for our Life Science Careers Outreach and EDI discussion on 10 December. This event highlights how life sciences SMEs can actively engage in career outreach and equality, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I) with young people and grow future skills through practical programmes like supported internships and careers outreach initiatives by leveraging resources such as the Cheshire & Warrington Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) and supported internships.  Attendees will be asked to participate in discussions on how they currently engage with young talent and ensure ED&I in their workforce while exploring new ways to overcome barriers and improve diversity.

📣 Call out to assist 5 science apprentices We have been made aware of 5 Lab Scientist apprentices at risk of redundancy in the London / Kent area.   This is understandably a challenging situation for the affected learners, so we are reaching out in hopes of finding new host employers to allow them to continue their studies. All of the apprentices are currently in their third year of the Laboratory Science apprenticeship with the University of Kent.
