Scope Construction is pleased to announce the start of our second major project for Leicester City Council. The City Mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby and Deputy City Mayor for social care, Cllr Sarah Russell, joined Scope Construction Ltd, on this week to break ground on Leicester City Council’s first new purpose-built, children’s home for several years. The £1.8 million scheme will see the construction of a two storey children’s home to provide new living accommodation, communal facilities and ancillary accommodation. It will include five en-suite bedrooms, as well as two self-contained flats, a waking staff office and a staff sleeping room. Additionally, there will be a communal lounge, dining area, kitchen, training room, games room and staff offices, with a garden to the rear for planting vegetables. The building will also feature a range of energy efficiency measures including roof-mounted photo-voltaic panels and air source heat pumps. This is Scope’s second major project for Leicester City Council. Earlier this year we completed the conversion of the former Winstanley Community Centre into a Families Together Centre. We are delighted to be working with Leicester City Council again, especially on a project like this, which will bring much needed support for children and their carers in Leicester. This fits well with our core purpose – to be a trusted partner, helping people, businesses and communities to thrive in the built environment. Great also to be working with Loughborough based Architects A+G Architects and Leicester based Structural Engineers BSP Consulting Ltd. Construction is expected to take around one year to complete, with the new children’s home likely to open in late-2025. We will be sure to keep you updated on progress, so watch this space. Scope Construction's Glenn Slater and Dominic Richard Jeffrey have been out and about again. This week’s focus has been on Scope Construction’s – Small Works, which we relaunched earlier this year They visited one of our current projects in Leicester, a private house, where we have built an extension to create a new larger kitchen diner, with bifold doors opening out onto a new raised Indian sandstone patio area Other works include block paving to the side access, a new downstairs toilet in the old kitchen space and a full replaster and redecoration of the hallway. The living room is also being refreshed including purpose-made shelving and cabinets, built in-house by our very own Matt Beeching The project is progressing well, with the project now at the fit-out stage If you or any of your colleagues/contacts have a similar project in Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire, get in touch via the Small Works page on our website: https://lnkd.in/eJeBguQg #Construction #Contractors #SmallWorks #Leicestershire #Nottinghamshire

Not long now! The barn conversion at Hickling Pastures is not far off completion, so, on a somewhat wet and windy day, our Glenn Slater and Dominic Richard Jeffrey visited the site this week to check out the progress, following their visit a few months ago Scope Construction has been busy converting a former “cow shed” into a luxury home, with 4 ensuite bedrooms as well as a large bespoke kitchen and dining area with spectacular views from ground level and two private balconies at first-floor level Since the last visit the roof has been completed, all bathrooms and ensuites have been fitted, the kitchen and utility have been installed, the second fix mechanical and electrical is in and the house has been fully decorated. An interesting and challenging aspect of the scheme has been retaining the existing concrete frame structure, which has also formed a feature-covered walkway and patio around the property, whilst serving as a reminder of the building’s former use This is the second project delivered by Scope Construction in the same location. The first is a new 4-bed timber framed home with sustainability in mind incorporating air source heating, solar PV and rainwater harvesting, achieving an EPC A+ rating #Residential #Conversion #NewBuild #Sustainability #Leicestershire #Construction

Spotlight on Residential: This week, Scope Construction’s Glenn Slater visited one of our smaller sites in Nottinghamshire. The project will convert and extend a dated bungalow into a spacious and modern home. See the images attached to appreciate the transformation that is taking place Work is progressing well, with the strip out, extensions, first fix and concrete pour completed. Once finished, the main house will have 3 bedrooms including a large ensuite master bedroom, a large social, entertaining kitchen, grand dining area, cosy living room and home office, whilst the link extension will integrate the existing garage with the house, providing a gym and laundry room. Above the garage, there will be a fourth ensuite bedroom. Externally the house will be clad with black shiplap cladding to give it a modern aesthetic. The extensive garden will also be re-landscaped This is the second project we have undertaken with Matthew Sanders and Jasmine Sanders Click the link for a short video showcasing the first project: https://lnkd.in/eA-Ucrww It is great to be working with them again to turn the vision for their latest scheme into reality. Scope Construction’s Maz Patel, Glenn Slater, and Dominic Richard Jeffrey attended the Mosaic 1898 Whetstone Hub - Have Your Say event at the new Whetstone Baptist Church situated within the Springwell building in Whetstone – a stunning new building Scope Construction is currently onsite working with Mosaic 1898 and SKM Design (SKM Architects Ltd) to deliver the new Whetstone Hub on the site of the old Whetstone Baptist Church The scheme is 3 projects in 1; The Manse: Refurbishing an existing house to provide much-needed respite/support for Leicestershire families and caregivers The Community Centre: Is being brought back to life with accessible and disability-friendly spaces including a sensory room and therapy room to provide life-enhancing care The Chapel: Is being restored into a multi-use space for the whole community The multi-phased project will be completed later in the year with the Manse (Respite Centre) on track for completion in September The event was organised and hosted by Zoheb Shariff and Krupa Bhatt. Whilst the focus of the Whetstone project is to provide a hub for Mosaic 1898’s services to support disabled families they also have a clear vision for the hub to meet the needs of the wider Whetstone community, so this event was all about engaging with and listening to the local community, capturing their ideas and feedback on how to best meet their specific needs Apt that the event was held in Whetstone Baptist Church’s new home with the large cross, centre stage, being a nod to its old location - made from wood reclaimed from the old pews at the former site It was great to be invited to this event and fantastic to see attendees so engaged, with plenty of questions and feedback being given on how the Whetstone Hub can best serve the local community Feel free to tag yourself or comment if you see yourself or others in these pictures! #Community #Repurposing #Engagement #HaveYourSay #Leicester #Leicestershire
