We are delighted to report that our latest PBSA proposals have been voted unanimously for approval (one abstention) at yesterdays Glasgow City Council planning committee. Retaining the existing Georgian facade, these proposals will bring a new lease of life to this rapidly deteriorating city centre asset and further ease the recognised shortfall of student accommodation in Glasgow. This decision marks flow design’s 4th major planning approval in the last 9 months, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the various stakeholders for their proactive contributions throughout the process. This collaborative journey, and the resulting design, received high praise from the committee members. Far too many names to applaud individually, but the efforts across-the-board on this application have been second to none. Student Accommodation | Pentland Gait | Planning submitted We're delighted our Purpose Built Student Accommodation project at Pentland Gait, Edinburgh has been submitted for planning consent for Hamcap Pentland Gait Limited. Located in close proximity to Heriot Watt University, the proposal includes 382 beds split between cluster and studio rooms, and 1,400 m² of flexible commercial space with possible uses including the life science sector due to its position due to its location adjacent to Edinburgh's largest life science park. A stepped form of development allows the building to respond to the canal on the east and the City Bypass on the west. A higher element along the canal edge maximises the views and amenity the canal offers while a lower western wing encloses the courtyard and allows sunlight penetration to the central courtyard. Materials for the project include buff brick and metal cladding to the PBSA element and the commercial sector offsetting this with a dark grey metal cladding being proposed. Granton Waterfront Moves Forward to Planning Working in partnership with Cruden Homes, The City of Edinburgh Council’s project to create a new sustainable coastal town at Granton Waterfront has moved a step closer to reality with our submission for planning permission for the first phase of their £1.3bn masterplan for Granton. The area forms part of the Capital’s largest brownfield site and will be transformed into an exciting new development of over 800 net zero homes. This includes capacity for a new primary school and low carbon heat network, commercial units, active travel routes and other sustainable transport infrastructure as well as attractive public and open spaces. Warm, energy efficient homes will be provided within the development, which will include flats, family homes, and wheelchair accessible homes. At least 35% of the homes will be of affordable tenure.
