🌟 Exciting updates from our training and consultancy team! 🌟 We've been busy connecting with organisations eager to create more welcoming and accessible spaces for autistic people and their families. Here’s a snapshot of our current work: ✨ Barclays UK: Continuing from our partnership where we supported with the design of their state-of-the-art campus in Glasgow, we will be providing further support to employees that will continue to help create diverse workplace communities that are welcoming to autistic people. 🎉 IRN-BRU Carnival: We’re improving QD Events staff knowledge and understanding of autism and will be hearing from this year’s carnival visitors about what they think would make future events more accessible to them. Make sure you are following us to see how you can be involved, and for all the updates! At Scottish Autism, we believe that truly inclusive environments benefit everyone. Our knowledge and expertise, combined with our commitment to ensuring that the voices of autistic people and their families are heard throughout, means that you can be assured that any changes that you make will be the right ones. Are you ready to make a difference? Contact us at training@scottishautism.org or call 01259 222022 to learn how we can help your business thrive! 💜 Joanna Panese  #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #ScottishAutism #Training #Consultancy

'A greater focus is needed' - I couldn't agree more. For years there have been conversations about the experiences autistic people and those with a disability face within the workplace, but no real tangible change. Young people are still being left behind with no clear transition support, adults are often faced with ableism or outdated notions and assumptions of autism. Funding to support employability projects comes and goes. There is so much good practice out there, so much lived experience to be listened to that could change the outcome for so many. As the report says 'concrete action is now vital' But we don't have to wait, the ability to change this is in our gift right now, but I really hope the report serves as a call to action.

Supporting people with learning disabilities, and neurodiverse people, into employment is crucial if the Scottish Government is to maintain progress in reducing the disability employment gap. That’s the message from Holyrood’s Economy and Fair Work Committee, in a report published today following an inquiry. The Committee has found that The Scottish Government needs to use the inquiry’s insight to deliver a clear and measurable action plan for government, local authorities, businesses, and employability services to work together to help all disabled young people prepare for work, find work and stay in employment. The Committee also asks that the Scottish Government provides an update on progress around its fair work resource for employers. Convener Claire Baker explains more in this video, and you can find out further information about the inquiry and read the Committee's report 'Closing the Disability Employment Gap in Scotland' at https://ow.ly/7z7H50TJGBN
