SCVO supports the priorities guiding the Scottish Government’s decision-making on policy and the budget - eradicating child poverty, growing the economy, tackling the climate emergency, and delivering better public services. Voluntary organisations are central to delivering on all of these policy priorities. Read our full response to pre-budget scrutiny here: https://buff.ly/4csiamn
SCVO (Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations)
Non-profit Organizations
The national membership organisation for charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises in Scotland.
About us
SCVO is the national membership organisation for the voluntary sector in Scotland. Our mission is to champion the role of voluntary organisations in building a flourishing society and support them to do work that has a positive impact. We're passionate about what the voluntary sector can achieve. Along with our community of over 3,800 members and supporters, we believe that a thriving voluntary sector should be at the heart of a successful, fair and inclusive Scotland. We tirelessly lobby and campaign to advance the interests of our members and the people and communities that they support, and empower people to make a difference in their communities by providing affordable services and office spaces, and access to quality information and resources. We also encourage digital participation, create networking opportunities, increase access to volunteer and job opportunities, and run hundreds of training courses throughout the year.

"We welcome Audit Scotland's report, published today, on Tackling Digital Exclusion, investigating the question: how well are public bodies tackling digital exclusion? "The answer: A mixed bag. An incoherent picture. Room for improvement. "The report shows that while government aims to save money through digital services, the burden of supporting people to use them often falls to local community organisations and charities, without resource or recognition." In this blog, SCVO's David McNeill reflects on the impact of and support for #DigitalInclusion, urging people and organisations across the voluntary sector and beyond to commit to action ⬇️ https://buff.ly/3XccvMQ

"Things do not seem to be improving." That's what the findings from the latest wave of the The Scottish Third Sector Tracker, published this week, show. Rising costs and inflation continue to plague the sector, but they're far from the only issues. Read the latest blog from our Research Officer Steve Grozier to learn more: https://buff.ly/3M4OLnp

📢 Today we’re proud to be launching Scotland’s Digital Inclusion Charter Today we proudly launched Scotland's Digital Inclusion Charter alongside Digital Scotland at an event hosted by Standard Life UK and UK Phoenix Group. SCVO's Jason Railton kicked things off with an overview of Scotland’s Digital Inclusion Charter and the 5 pledges. Followed by Ivan McKee MSP, Minister for Public Finance, who delivered a keynote on The Scottish Government's commitment to digital inclusion. We heard from SCVO's Sally Dyson about the Scottish voluntary sector's crucial role in supporting digital inclusion, followed by Phoenix Group's Head of Digital and User Experience Andy Young's thoughts on the role of the private sector and the work they’re doing to play their part to support digital inclusion. www.digitalinclusion.scot

"It has been incredibly distressing to see the terrible spectre of Islamophobia and racism rear its head as rioting blights some UK communities. We need to stand together in solidarity against violence and hate speech. As well as voicing our unwavering support, we at SCVO want to provide whatever practical support we can." Here’s a statement from our Chief Executive, Anna: https://lnkd.in/eyeuH-iT
