Designing the interior of the spaceship has been a collaborative effort with the engineering, commercial and operations teams at Virgin Galactic and the fantastic material innovators at Under Armour. A brief that required, not only, an innovative approach to interior design, materials and Micro-G usability, but also pushed us to redefine our own design processes. Our real time #DigitalTwin allowed us to deliver a virtual cabin reveal in the midst of the pandemic. Over the past decade this work has touched every part of our business and fuelled our team's knowledge and passion for space exploration. #VirginGalactic #Seymourpowell #ShapeTheFuture #spaceshiptwo

As a proud partner with The Design & Technology Association we are committed to keeping design and technology on the "cool" list for kids. We recently hosted Robbie (Mr. Taylor), head teacher from Mid Calder Primary School, at our Creative Technology Studio in Stirling. It was a pleasure to immerse him in our world, exploring spaceships, laying out train interiors, building and discussing the impacts of AI. The visit was also illuminating for me, as Robbie had a lot to say about the perceptions of parents and educators regarding the importance of design and technology within the wider curriculum. These kinds of insights raise concerns about potential impacts on our industry, as the UK has been a global powerhouse in design and technology since the industrial revolution. If we want it to stay that way, nurturing this career path from a young age is crucial. We were thrilled to hear that educators like Mr. Taylor are on the front lines, defending our specialism and inspiring the next generation of designers! #seymourpowell #design #education

Introducing: ORB: Redefining Urban Waterways with Autonomous Electric Boat Ride Sharing    With increasing urbanisation placing exponential pressures upon our inner-city mobility systems – urban planners must explore innovative solutions that address these challenges in ways that are holistically beneficial for people, businesses, and the world.   Building upon our Future Mobility Concept Series: ORB (Omni Robotic Boat) introduces a revolutionary concept in urban water transport.   “Major waterways, rivers, and city coastlines are underutilised assets with significant potential to improve urban mobility. By restoring and enhancing these natural infrastructures through innovative water-based transport systems that seamlessly connect with existing land networks, opportunities exist to alleviate the increased mobility challenges posed by urbanisation and growing city populations, often exacerbated by global tourism.” Jeremy White (Transport Design Director)   Designed for major cities like London, Miami, New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, and Venice, this innovative hydrofoil boat combines cutting-edge technology with luxurious comfort, setting a new standard for water-based mobility.    “By making better use of underutilised waterways, we can revolutionise urban transport in the face of growing population density - providing faster, cleaner, and more enjoyable travel experiences with more responsible operator models that move towards a more sustainable future.” Neil Baron – Associate Creative Director   “Every passenger enjoys a panoramic, 180 degree view from their own large window, providing a unique and luxurious perspective of the surrounding views. This configuration transforms ORB into a floating viewpoint, ideal for those seeking a serene and exclusive journey.” Omar Chraibi – Lead Designer   Huge thanks as ever to Fast Co for the fantastic write up! Always a thrill to see our recent work hit the shelves! Just in time for Summer, we are excited to unveil the fruits of our latest project building on our long-standing partnership with Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I. Introducing -196°C: the coolest new entrant to the world of RTD, embodying the vibrant essence of Japanese culture with a zesty twist specifically designed for a British audience. Following our successful packaging renovation for Ribena, we were thrilled to be asked to adapt the already popular brand’s packaging design for the UK market. The name -196°C highlights Suntory’s unique freeze-crush infusion technology, where whole fruits are frozen with liquid nitrogen before being crushed and infused with Japanese Shōchū, Vodka, and soda to create an exhilarating new taste experience. Our design, based on extensive consumer research, subtly modernises the global packaging whilst adding unique graphic touches meticulously crafted to bring the same excitement it inspires across Asia to British consumers. Cheers to Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I on their latest success - and thanks to World Brand Design Society for the wonderful write up. We look forward to raising a can! https://lnkd.in/eGSZHE92 #suntory #packagingdesign #RTD #shochu #vodka #shapethefuture

Wow. What a week! With New Designers now behind us, we've been reflecting on what's been a particularly inspiring time for us at the show this year. As ever, we were delighted to see such a diverse wealth of creativity on display across the show floor - and thrilled to meet some of the innovative minds that will one day shape the future of our industry. Championing emerging talent has always been hugely important to us - and so this year, we had the privilege of presenting Seymourpowell's first-ever 'Shape the Future' Award, conceived to celebrate the next generation of designers who actively drive positive impact with their innovative ideas, hard work and passion. Crafted by our in-house workshop team from materials repurposed from past projects, the award embodies our message that design is about making things better - for people, business, and the world.   Join us as we congratulate Sam Russell from Nottingham Trent University as our first ever 'Shape the Future' Award winner. Sam’s remarkable project, ‘Janus’, is a smart assistant designed for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, solving a real-world problem with fantastic style and commercial viability. Having successfully demonstrated all aspects of the design process through rigorous research and user interaction - we are excited to welcome him to join us at our London studio for a one-month paid internship later this Summer. Alongside the 'Shape the Future' Award we also presented an array of SP Love Tags to a select pick of graduates who demonstrated excellence in various ways through their work - with notable themes of sustainability, user-centred design thinking, and material or technological innovations drawing our attention across the show. Wrapping up the week, mariel brown (Director of Foresight), Jeremy White (Transport Design Director), and Ian Whatley (Director of Digital Products & Experiences) participated in an ND Educates panel moderated by the fantastic Tim Duncan (Founder & CEO of TDC PR) - unpacking our approach to design and innovation and exploring the various ways graduates can prepare for a career in the field. We are thrilled to have been a sponsor this year and part of this important event celebrating the next generation of emerging talent. Congratulations to all who exhibited - we are inspired by your imagination and passion and look forward to following your creative journeys in the years to come. Until next time. Here's to the future! #ShapeTheFuture #Innovation #Sustainability #NextGeneration #Craftsmanship #FutureLeaders #Design #ProductDesign #DesignStudent #NewDesigners
