In 2022, LOT Polish Airlines chose tangerine to spearhead a comprehensive upgrade to their cabin interiors, signalling a significant evolution in the airline’s long and short-haul services in its ambition to become the preferred carrier in Central and Eastern Europe. The endeavour was to develop a cohesive cabin interior design concept spanning all classes of LOT’s wide-body Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft and then seamlessly translate it into their narrow-body counterparts. Passengers boarding LOT’s aircraft worldwide can immerse themselves in the essence of Poland, whether returning home, visiting, or transiting. The elegant entranceway to the aircraft features a copper finish with detailing reminiscent of Polish paper cutting, known as ‘wycinanki’. HyperloopTT, a leading transportation and technology licensing company, collaborated with us to design the HyperloopTT Express Freight. This innovative freight transport capsule system is set to revolutionise shipping with its speed, efficiency, and sustainability. We applied our future mobility expertise and service design methodologies to explore the development of a commercially viable freight system. Our goal was to create a design that could transform the logistics industry in terms of efficiency and commercial viability. To date, HyperloopTT has made major strides, including building the world’s first full-scale Hyperloop test facility, securing over 40 patents, and establishing the first insurance framework and safety certification guidelines for commercial Hyperloop systems. We partnered with Southwest Airlines and tangerine to unveil the customized R2 that will outfit new Southwest aircraft in 2025. This collaborative effort spanned 18 months of comfort studies, testing, and refinement which resulted in innovative features and a new level of comfort for passengers to experience in the near future.
