  • This week the Secretary of State for Culture has appointed Baroness Margaret Hodge to lead a review of Arts Council England (ACE). Because this is a high-priority review of a significant public body, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will establish an Advisory Panel to inform the review and probe emerging recommendations. Stella Kanu has been appointed to be part of the review panel for the Government's Arts Council England Review 2025. Stella Kanu (CEO) has said: This week Secretary of State for Culture, Lisa Nandy, announced a £270m fund for England’s ‘crumbling’ cultural infrastructure, with an Arts Everywhere Fund focussed on improving cultural offerings in communities and on the curriculum. Lisa has appointed Baroness Margaret Hodge to lead a review of the Arts Council England (ACE). Because this is a high-priority review of a significant public body, the Department will establish an Advisory Panel to inform the review and probe emerging recommendations. I am delighted to announce my inclusion on the Advisory Panel. A review of Arts Council England (ACE) will produce creative and innovative recommendations, bringing together a range of top-class minds from across culture. I am proud to continue to represent London Mayor Sadiq Khan at Arts Council and am lucky to have enjoyed a long history and understanding of both the mechanics and challenges ACE faces. I look forward to advocating for this important public body, readying it for current and future challenges with robust and creative solutions. As CEO of the Globe, I’m glad to say we are enjoying returning audiences with celebrated work, however, we know we are lucky and are not resting on our laurels. Things remain incredibly challenging for colleagues and artists across the theatre and cultural sector. We are rare in enjoying a slow recovery, and we continue to work steadily and strategically to remain future-focussed. This is a vital moment for culture and for our country's cultural future – I intend to help make it count alongside colleagues on this important review panel.
