SHINE Academies

What a year we’ve had at SHINE Academies. One full of growth and opportunity thanks to our amazing team of stakeholders. This week I’ve had the opportunity to visit all of our schools and see Year 6 productions such as We Will Rock You and Matilda, as well as some very emotional leavers assemblies. We have some truly talented staff and pupils! ⭐️ In September we relaunch our values and mission statement, with a huge collaboration of all of our schools staff, plus some new faces ahead of 2024/25 growth and some invited guests. With amazing keynote speakers we intend to think about the ‘why’ and build on our already successful family services and MAT team. In the meantime, we’ll take a break to enjoy summer and be thankful for everything we’ve achieved this year for our pupils and their families. I’m feeling incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated team of professionals to work with. Working in education is the best.

After achieving the prestigious Champion School status, Lisa Rogers and her Villiers Primary School team, attended the Little Wandle conference at the News Building, London, hosted by Harper Collins. Villiers are only the 23rd Little Wandle School to receive this accolade! As well as receiving valuable CPD, they were presented with a book that is gifted to all of their champion schools. Incredibly proud of the achievements of all of the staff and stakeholders involved. The impact on our pupils is considerable!

We're thrilled to announce that SHINE school readiness packs are making their way out and meet the wonderful children who will be joining the SHINE family in September! Each pack is filled with exciting materials, including our special adventure bear. We can't wait to see all the amazing adventures that the children will take their bears on. We had a fantastic day at SHINE Academies yesterday, working on something very exciting! 🎥✨ Our star of the show? None other than Poppy, the adorable school dog! 🐾She was an absolute delight, soaking up all the attention. Can't wait for you all to see what we've been up to!

Nicola Bayliss and her team welcomed the Anti-Violence Manchester Bee Monument to her hive of Busill Bees on Thursday. Created by the British Ironwork centre, the monument is built from thousands of firearms, knives and weapons, all handed in from the streets of Manchester. This has been designed as a stark reminder that the need to supress violence requires repeated focus. Bringing awareness to primary schools is becoming increasingly important to ensure our children and their families have a safe community. We have to open the conversations early and the Busill Bees don’t shy away from those difficult subject matters. What a privilege to host this incredible design! 🐝

Exciting things coming at SHINE Academies! Colour Cubed Creative Communications

Second post of the day for #ThankATeacherDay but we needed to give a special mention to Suki Baran who has received a certificate and personal letter from Michael Morpurgo, in recognition of her hardwork and dedication to the profession. Suki was nominated as an ‘unsung hero’ and she really is. As our Director of Family Services, Suki leads on safeguarding and family support across SHINE Academies. She has achieved national acknowledgment for her success and regularly supports external provision to improve the life chances for families outside of our normal remit. Family services is the USP of SHINE Academies and we couldn’t achieve what we do without her commitment. Our stakeholders are very lucky to have her! 🌟
