Exciting Partnership! GolfScape Vegetation Design and Management x Shorehill Golf ⛳🌿 We’re excited to be working with Shorehill to bring cutting-edge GPS tracking technology to golf course vegetation management. This partnership enables data-driven precision decision-making, helping courses optimise vegetation design and enhance ecological value. By using golfer GPS data to inform vegetation design and habitat creation on golf courses, we can identify movement patterns, improve playability, and maximise environmental benefits. This innovative approach allows for smarter planning, ensuring that vegetation enhances the golfing experience while supporting biodiversity and sustainability. We look forward to seeing how this technology transforms the way courses manage their landscapes! #golfcoursedesign #gps #sustainability #vegetation #conservation

  • We are delighted to announce our partnership with Neil Pulongbarit 🏌🏼♂️🌱 Golf Sustainability and Strokes Lost. Neil will be helping Shorehill and our clients in Canada & beyond through offering specialist advise to convert our data-led findings into actionable plans for the ecological enhancement of golf facilities. Neil's expertise, passion for sustainability and drive really resonated with our own mission, and we are so excited to be working with him moving forward. To learn more please contact Harry Cloke or Neil Pulongbarit 🏌🏼♂️🌱 Golf Sustainability#golf #golfsustainability #golfcoursemanagement #watermanagement

  • We are delighted to announce a partnership with GolfScape Vegetation Design and Management GolfScape are a leader in native vegetation design and management, providing golf facilities with specialist advice on maximising biodiversity across golf course landscapes. This partnership will help our shared clients to identify, then build and manage, areas for habitat creation and/or native vegetation. Our shared offering works in the following way: 1) Shorehill’s area usage maps are used to precisely understand the areas of high, low and no usage by golfers. 2) This data is compared with irrigation, maintenance and vegetation maps to reduce the total area of irrigated turf and expand natural habitats. 3) GolfScape deliver key experience and expertise in designing, building and managing those ecological areas around the property. It is a huge pleasure to be working with the team at GolfScape, and we are excited by the application of our data to help facilities more sustainably design, build and manage native vegetation. Some more information on our services can be found below. Please contact Harry Cloke or Robert Burke to learn more! #sustainability #golfmaintenance #golfdesign #habitatcreation #golf

TESTING PROJECT PROPOSALS: We can test project proposals against existing golfer data to understand the impact of those changes prior to construction. This grows confidence in proposals, protects against misdirected investment and ensures a positive outcome for any work - regardless of size, aims or budgets. Here, we see a fairway bunker intended to challenge lower handicap players. Instead, it sits squarely within 18+ handicap golfer's driving area. The data uncovers problems with the current design, a proposal to move the bunker is created, then we predict the impact of that proposal prior to construction. Here, the new bunker location would present far more of a challenge for lower handicap, younger players while making the hole more playable for high handicap, shorter hitting golfers. • NAVIGATING DISAGREEMENTS IN PROJECT DECISION-MAKING: Anyone who has been a part of course development work knows the struggle of dealing with competing opinions in the planning stages. It happens in so many ways; between club staff and golfers, between architects and clients, between owners and operators, and internally within club committees. It is incredibly difficult to break the deadlock, leading to compromises which reduce the effectiveness of the project. With data, theories can quickly be tested, separating opinions from facts. This dissolves arguments and paves the way for clearer, more effective decisions to be made across course design, management and maintenance. AN EXAMPLE: The committee is divided over whether to renovate, move or eliminate a greenside bunker. Despite the expertise of the consulting architect and support from club officials who propose removing the bunker, several committee members believe in its strategic value in testing low handicap golfers. Our data highlights an overwhelming trend of high handicap players visiting the bunker, with almost no play from low handicappers. The assumptions of those committee members is shown to be false using data, unblocking the stalemate in decision-making and eventually leading to more impactful changes to be made to the hole. Data provides clarity, which is used as the basis for discussion and decision-making for projects of all kinds. Chat to Harry Cloke if you would like to learn more about Shorehill ⛳

COUSE SET-UP & BUNKERING A great example of the power of data in informing course set-up and bunker placement. Here, we see a par 4 hole with a left fairway bunker intended to add strategy to the tee shot. What we see from the data is that very few golfers are hitting their approach shots from the intended landing area (3). Instead, the vast majority of players are using the back tee (1) and are subsequently hitting into area 2, short of the intended landing area. Insights like these help to inform low cost course set-up decisions (in this case encouraging more forward tee use) and can be hugely valuable when it comes to bunker renovations, where the placement of this fairway bunker may be reconsidered. The data removes doubt and opinion about how holes like these are experienced by golfers, and instead provides clarity. That clarity allows more impactful and cost effective decisions to be made to enhance the experience of all golfers. Reach out to Harry Cloke to learn more about how our data can help you.

NEW PRODUCT ALERT - Area Usage Mapping We're delighted to announce a new product focused specifically on documenting key areas of no, low and high usage by golfers on any course. This is designed to provide facilities with a base on which to review course management policies including: -Identifying areas for habitat creation -Reducing the total acreage of maintained (and/or irrigated) turf -Directing precision maintenance Ultimately, it will help facilities to maximise sustainable land management while preserving the golfer experience. Clients will receive a detailed base map with grouped layers showing: -Areas where no golfers go (why not turn these into unmaintained zones, or foster habitat growth?) -Areas with low usage by golfers (where maintenance inputs could be reduced) -Areas of mid usage (important areas for the golfer experience) -Areas of high usage (to inform precision maintenance) It is an exciting development which allows us to serve our clients in a more cost effective, targeted way, in this case focusing on land management and sustainability. Please reach out to Harry Cloke to learn more.
