    What's going on at checkout? Well, our team just got back from the eCommerce Expo, and we have to say that Matthew Walsh from IMRG (UK's largest ecommerce association), shared some eye-opening stats on checkout behaviours. A few really stood out to us: 1. Single-page checkouts take the lead 🛍 Single-page checkouts convert at 61% compared to 56% for multi-page ones. It’s clear that when it comes to checkout, less really is more. 2. Timing is everything ⌛ On average, shoppers spend 143 seconds in the checkout, but most drop-offs happen around 126 seconds—just before hitting ‘pay’. This really highlights how crucial it is to keep things simple & smooth at the final hurdle. 3. Mind the mobile gap 📱 Mobile checkout conversion rates lag behind desktop—56% vs 61%. With so many of us shopping on our phones, it’s vital to optimise the mobile experience. 4. Guest checkouts reign supreme 👩💼 59% of orders are from guest checkouts. People want convenience, but it also shows there’s a real opportunity to convert these guests into loyal customers down the line. 5. Payment flexibility is a must 💳 Credit and debit cards might still be king with 50% of revenue, but methods like PayPal (18%) and Apple Pay (10%) are not far behind. Offering multiple payment options isn’t just nice to have anymore—it’s a necessity. Here’s what we’re doing at Simpler. to solve this: 1. Lean and simple single-page checkout: Our checkout process is all about simplicity. We’ve trimmed down the fields and steps to keep things straightforward and to the point. The less friction, the better. 2. Speed that impresses: First time shoppers using Simpler, checkout in under a minute. Returning customers? They often wrap it up in under 10 seconds. It’s all about getting them from basket to purchase with as little fuss as possible. 3. Mobile-first optimisation: Knowing mobile conversion rates often lag behind desktop, we’ve optimised Simpler for mobile, leading to an 18% increase in mobile conversions. It’s all about smoother navigation and fewer steps, making checkout a breeze on any device. 4. All-in-one payment Integration: We offer a range of payment options—credit/debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Revulout Pay, Klarna, and more—under a single integration. This means retailers can give shoppers the flexibility they want, without juggling multiple systems. 5. Boost in registered shoppers: We’ve noticed an average 30% increase in registered shoppers for retailers using Simpler. We make it easy for guest shoppers to become loyal, returning customers without any extra effort. The bottom line? Shoppers appreciate simplicity, speed, and options.
