We kicked off International Women’s Day early with a fantastic lunch for the women of the Brightstar Group. Co-hosted by Group Chief People Officer Clare Jupp and Director of Intermediary Sales at Together - loans, mortgages & finance, Tanya Elmaz, the ‘TOGETHER…we can accelerate action’ event embraced this year’s #AccelerateAction theme. We celebrated Brightstar’s progress in supporting women’s careers and highlighted the impact of senior female role models. Clare shared her pride in the Group’s achievements and drew parallels with Together’s inclusive culture and gender balance initiatives. With more women in management and advisory roles than ever, our success stems from a strong work culture, inspiring role models, and our People Development Programme. ✨👏🌹

Sirius Finance recently completed a c.£9m commercial term mortgage for an experienced operator who owns a successful portfolio of multi-faceted pubs with letting rooms across the Midlands. This facility was structured at 65% LTV (MV1) with a competitive rate of just 2.5% + BBR, providing crucial working capital for extensive refurbishment works. Some lenders may have considered this more suitable for development finance or a 'heavy refurb' loan - typically at much higher rates! One of the key hurdles in this transaction was down to the all-important valuations, which had the potential to impact the borrowing structure. When valuations came in significantly lower than expected, Chris Field & Billie Cox leveraged their market knowledge and sector expertise across the Hotel, Licensed & Leisure sectors. By providing strong comparable evidence and structuring a successful appeal process, they were able to challenge the numbers effectively. Additionally, through negotiation with the lender, they secured an exception to standard policy, ensuring the original loan figures remained unchanged - much to the clients delight. This case highlights the importance of working with an experienced finance partner, who truly understands the sector and can navigate complexities to achieve the best outcome.
