It was a pleasure to welcome Lola Fadina, Director of Maritime at Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom to ACUA Ocean's new HQ at Turnchapel Wharf last week. Lola and her team have been tireless supporters of maritime decarbonisation and innovation through UK SHORE and the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition delivered by Innovate UK. ACUA Ocean Co-Founder Mike Tinmouth and Head of Marine Operations John Hunnibell spoke to the DfT team about the USV Pioneer and her novel SWATH vessel design, MASS regulation, the benefits and challenges of hydrogen technology and the importance of the CMDC funding on supporting the wider UK maritime supply chain. Welcome Dtechtive - the latest addition to our portfolio! Recently Sixth Wave Ventures led the seed round of D-time Ltd, helping them to fund the development of their Dtechtive platform. The £245K raised in total will enable D-time to build technology that will serve enormous value to data search engines like Google. If AI is seriously to be the knowledge platform of the future, then it needs to be able to access all the data available, at the moment nearly 70% of datasets sit outside of reach. D-time are solving this problem by creating a platform that can discover these datasets that other search engines simply cannot.
