Smiley is the original collaborator brand, our defiantly optimistic energy has inspired generations for over 50 years. The enduring positive impact of the most universally recognizable symbol in the world, represented freedom in the 1970s, defined music subcultures in the 80s and 90s and, in the 2000s, alongside our growing fashion and art status, became a vanguard of the digital revolution with the creation of the emoticons – a new visual form of communication. Turning 50 in 2022, Smiley is leading the way once again with the launch of a first-of-its-kind ­campaign Future Positive, working with brands across the globe to tackle worldwide social and climate injustice through sustainable and transparently-produced products.

    Today, we celebrate Smiley's founder, Franklin Loufrani—a true innovator and visionary. In 1972, Franklin introduced Smiley as a symbol of positivity in France Soir, intended to uplift and inspire. From that initial spark, Smiley has grown into a global movement, embodying optimism and joy in over 100 countries. Today, Smiley is one of the world’s most recognisable brands, representing happiness across generations. Franklin’s legacy continues to shine, reminding us of the power of positivity in every smile.     From Dame Judi Dench to Bella Ramsey & Jude Law, we’ve assembled some the world’s biggest stars of music, film and entertainment on this campaign. ‘For Our Family Human’ is the most important project we’ve ever done at Smiley Movement, our non profit which is about creativity for the greater good. The UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN DHR) is like the constitution of humanity. It was ratified by 193 UN member states in 1948 and is still relevant today, now more than ever. For Our Family Human is a campaign to remind the world of the existence of this fundamental text and our fundamental rights as humans. Award-winning director Dan Cadan has transformed the UN DHR into rhyme, like a poem or a rap. The result is a powerful reminder to the citizens of today’s world: these are your rights, and the rights of those around you. Each article has also been trimmed down to one key word representing universal values such as dignity, respect, freedom. To share this guide on how to love & respect your fellow human, we captured 30 films by 30 celebrities known around the world, each one reciting one article of the modernised declaration. For Our Family Human is supported by Art for Human Rights, a Foundation led by human rights activist, barrister and producer Bill Shipsey. I’m proud to announce Smiley Movement as the exclusive media platform showcasing daily during a month For Our Family Human through our website and Smiley news pages on social media channels.     The Smiley Company was in Italy this week for Milano Licensing Day to showcase all of our iconic IPs. We're thrilled that Mini Smiley will be broadcasted on Rai Yoyo from January 2025 with all the songs translated into Italian. Smiley has always had a special relationship with Italy, having worked with Fendi, Georgio Armani, Moschino and working with almost all the fashion chains and global partners. Since its inception, Milano Licensing Day has always been an important day in the calendar for The Smiley Company as we continue to grow and look for new partners as well as keeping strong relationships with our existing partners.
