About us
Social-Ability is a social venture with an ambition to make society happier. Our first goal is to spark laughter and happiness for everyone living with dementia. Our motivation comes from experience of living with dementia in our families and as a result, we only choose to market and develop products we believe in. As a team, we’ve got a history of working with interactive lights and working closely with the dementia care industry and many of our team are motivated by personal experiences of having lived with dementia in our own families. We believe this makes a difference. Over the past few years, we’ve worked with many of the top care home groups in the UK and Ireland, as well as with many libraries, hospitals and community centres. However, we saw opportunities to increase our impact and wanted to do more to tackle the challenges faced by those with dementia in their lives. We started out with a simple idea – to listen to the many care staff, friends and family that we’d met and worked with to develop something truly ground-breaking. A best-in-class magic table projector paired with a service offering so powerful, we were willing to guarantee its effectiveness. And so, Social-Ability was born… We’re on that journey now and we’d love you to join us.

Social-Ability reposted this
Improving the quality of care & community services for people living with cognitive disabilities, through the introduction of service-based technology
Absolutely delighted to have won Ontario Long Term Care Association's "The Pitch" competition yesterday at the "This is Long Term Care" conference in Toronto. In a Dragons' Den style format, we had a 4 minute elevator pitch to showcase how the #HappinessProgramme can significantly enhance the quality of life in long term care homes, with a dedication to improving the lives of seniors and care staff. A huge thank you to our Dragons, Shusmita Rashid (Director, Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation), Brent Gingerich (CEO, peopleCare Communities), Nikki McIntosh (Marketing Director, Arjo) and Nicola Major (VP, Responsive Group Inc.), as well as to all of the OLTCA delegates who voted for Social-Ability. A special mention to CABHI and Johan Chen for their continued support and warm welcome since we launched in Canada little over 12 months ago. Very excited and motivated to support more long term communities across the country. #TiLTC2024
This week, CABHI joined the Ontario Long Term Care Association "This is Long Term Care" (#TiLTC2024) conference. This event highlighted research, innovations, and practical strategies to enhance care and quality of life for seniors in long-term care. CABHI’s Shusmita Rashid returned as a judge for #TiLTC2024’s “The Pitch,” where companies showcased innovative products and programs aimed at transforming long-term care. 🎉 Congratulations to Social-Ability on winning “The Pitch” competition! The Social-Ability Happiness Programme aims to enhance social engagement and recreation for people living with cognitive challenges in long-term care environments. Through interactive light technology, it creates engaging activities on various surfaces, responding to movement to enhance play and interaction. CABHI’s Discover + Adopt Program offers funding to healthcare organizations to implement solutions like Social-Ability. Between 20% and 45% of those with dementia experience clinically significant weight loss over one year, in a report by Guerchet et al (2014). 🌍Today is #WorldFoodDay and improving nutrition and hydration is on outcome we observe as part of the #HappinessProgramme 🌍 Our most recent surveys showed 27% of care services using the interactive projector found improved nutrition or hydration in those being cared for. ☕ Games like Fruit Patch🍉 and others are designed to encourage drinking or eating. You can find more of our care outcomes here: https://lnkd.in/eZpdz_GF

Lovely article from our Managing Director, John Ramsay, describing some top tips and tricks when caring for his Dad during his teenage years. Ideas that inform the way we make the #HappinessProgramme what it is today. ❤️
Caring for Dad as a teenager was tough but it had moments of #happiness. I'll cherish some of those moments forever (even the fridge full of lettuces). They've really helped to shape and inform the work we do at Social-Ability to help improve care services throughout the country and now the world. Here are some thoughts I shared with the Daily Mirror for others who might find themselves in a similar position 👇
