For World Mental Health Day 🌍…. I want to spotlight the importance of managing employee well-being within the workplace. 💼🏢 I’m not talking about well-being initiatives like sleep workshops and mental health days – while valuable, I’m talking about the silent killers that live within employee relations matters 🔈 👉🏽A nurse, awaiting the outcome of a professional registration investigation. She cannot work without her PIN. She waits patiently, but the inability to work and earn affects her health and sense of security ⏩An employee, after years of asking for support, submits a grievance against their manager for inappropriate behavior. Submitting that grievance was the last resort, and the lack of a safe environment has diminished their sense of self. 🩹Another employee, who takes pride in their work, faces unrealistic workload demands, slowly eroding their self-worth. These examples aren’t rare. They’re happening to employees across the country. 🗣️ its time to prioritise wellbeing in employee relations matters. I believe we can prioritise human risk management ahead of organisational risk management and still achieve sustainable, positive outcomes for both the organisation and the individual. Today I think of all the employee that are suffering from this silent killer and I want to share how I received a beautiful email from a client case we managed that was a beautiful reminder why I do what I do Below a redacted email of a employee relations matter Socially Inspired managed - a employee of a client, “I was literally at the brink of suicide, and you saved my life. There is actual justice out there.” 🌟The human cost is far too great to ignore. Real lives are at stake 🌟 Wellbeing at Work World MHFA England® Doctors in Distress Nafsiyat Intercultural Therapy Centre #WorldMentalHealthDay #EmployeeWellbeing #MentalHealthMatters #HumanFirst #EmployeeRelations

💫 BE THE CHANGE, RELATE Context is everything - so this Sunday morning as I wait for my 10 year old to complete her 11+ exams, I want to take a moment to reaffirm why I chose this slogan for Socially Inspired “Be the Change, Relate” it’s more than just words for me - its deeply embedded in the fabric of society and serves as a reminder that change begins with us. We cannot seek transformation in our workplaces, communities, and society without first activating the inner power within ourselves—power rooted in human connection, relatability, and love. This message became even clearer at this year's APNA NHS annual conference -"TIME FOR CHANGE" To me, this was a sign, an undeniable alignment to Socially Inspired. After missing last year’s event despite being nominated for two awards, I knew I couldn’t miss this one. The theme resonated too deeply. It was a clear signal that I needed to be there. The experience did not disappoint. I was surrounded by like-minded, human-centred individuals who embodied the same principles I hold dear. As I continue to work with NHS, Royal College of Nursing - Company, and wider sector organisations - it’s clear that these conversations about human-centred change are needed across the board. Over the course of two days, I listened to incredible speakers whose insights mirrored the essence of my values and beliefs-creating workplaces that centre on humanity, cultural, and wellbeing where love and human connection are prioritised. Language plays a key role in this transformation because the words we use have the power to shift hearts, change minds, and spark meaningful action. I was especially moved by these speakers: Matthew Taylor - Thank you for shining a light on what it means to "BE HUMAN" In navigating systems, governance, and processes, it’s critical that we never forget the people at the heart of it all. Prof. Bola Owolabi, MRCGP MFPH(Hon), FRSPH storytelling is about "PEOPLE STORIES OF THE SOUL." When we strip away titles, experiences, and the hierarchical structures that shape our organisations, what’s left are real, lived experiences. Connecting on a soul level, beyond our differences, brings us together and empowers us with the "AGENCY TO ACT." Thank you Navina Evans -Thank you for emphasising "PEACE AND LOVE" in a time when many are tired and bruised. Your personal experiences with the recent riots resonated with many of us who have faced being othered, discriminated against, or assaulted. Your words were a reminder of our shared humanity. As I reflect on these words—HUMAN, SOUL, PEACE, AGENCY and LOVE 👉🏾 I ask you to consider whether they’re present in your own organisations. Are these the guiding principles in your interactions with colleagues, teams, and organisations? If not, I encourage you to embrace them. Now, more than ever, is the time to "BE THE CHANGE, RELATE" take action, build real human connections, prioritising the well-being of individuals, teams, and organisations alike.
