🌱 🌳 🌿 Brilliant day yesterday supporting the Summer Literacy Sessions for Millfields Trust & Millfields Inspired at Stonehouse Creek. We got to read one of Mushi's Wacky Forest adventures in a beautifully wild environment and help with some bug spotting along the way. A very big thank you to Jasmine Rose from Skills Launchpad Plymouth for inviting us and to Keely Burch MA for being the perfect hostess! 🌱 🌳 🌿

Thank you Keely Burch MA for inviting me to be apart of Millfields Trust & Millfields Inspired Summer Literacy Sessions aimed at reconnecting children with reading, and to Bethan Rose and Societree CIC for supporting and providing the wonderful My Wacky Forest books and some ID books for us to try and identify the butterflies and bugs that were around us! Absolutely loved hearing that the children remembered Mushi and his friends and their adventures from the first two books, and why it’s so important to look after our environment and to always pick up your litter! ♻️🍄🟫🌳 Skills Launchpad Plymouth

We gave away another 500 books! 📚 🎉 🌱 Last week, Mushi and the SocieTree team returned to our first six schools for the third time to share the next chapter of the 'My Wacky Forest' adventure! Mushi couldn't wait to see the children again and hear how they’ve been caring for their forests. The children behaved wonderfully, even better than Mushi, who was his usual mischievous self and had to be reminded to stay out of trouble! We had an incredible time and were thrilled to give away another 500 books, ensuring each child could add a new story to their Wacky Forest collection. Is your primary school ready to plant a micro forest and join the 'Wacky Family'? Comment below or send us a message to get started! With huge thanks to Holy Cross, Salisbury Road, Mount Street, Marlborough, St Joseph's and St Matthew's primary schools, we feel honoured to be part of your legacy. 🌱 🌳 🌿 #Education #Sustainability #MyWackyForest #SocieTree #MicroForests #CommunityEngagement #EcoFriendly #GreenInitiatives

Before we introduce a film we're very proud of, a quick plea; we need schools! If your children attend a primary school in Plymouth, you work or know someone who works at one and you think they would like to become part of Project 96, please send us a message. It won't cost them anything, we just need a YES! There is only just over a week before the summer holidays and we'd love to get as many schools on our list as possible before the summer. Take a look below for the perfect way to explain what we do... 🌱 🌳 🌿 We are thrilled to share the first glimpse of our planting film from the amazing day in Beaumont Park, Plymouth, with the children from Salisbury Road and Holy Cross primary schools! In March, these young environmental stewards joined us to plant trees and connect with nature. The day was made even more special by the appearance of Mushi the Giant Mushroom, bringing extra fun and excitement to the event. Watch our film to relive the joy, teamwork, and learning. From digging holes to planting the trees, every moment showcases the power of community and education in creating a greener future. A huge thank you to the teachers, parents, and volunteers, and to the children for their hard work and enthusiasm. Together, we're growing a brighter, greener tomorrow. Check out the film and celebrate this fantastic achievement with us! 🌱 🌳 🌿 With thanks and credit to Fotonow CIC who joined us on the day to capture the magic. #SocieTree #PlantingDay #BeaumontPark #Plymouth #SalisburyRoadPrimary #HolyCrossPrimary #WhereIsMushi #EnvironmentalEducation #CommunityEngagement

Why is Carbon Net Zero Important? 👀 Striving for a carbon Net Zero future is a mission that requires the power of community. 🤝 This Net Zero Week 🌱 , SocieTree is excited to highlight the vital role of microforests as a pathway to achieving sustainability goals and enhancing social value. Why is Carbon Net Zero Important? Achieving carbon Net Zero means balancing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted with the amount removed from the atmosphere. It's a crucial step in mitigating climate change, protecting our planet for future generations, and ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment. By reducing our carbon footprint, we can limit global warming, preserve biodiversity, and promote a cleaner, greener world. 🌍 🌳 A Small Step with a Big Impact - Microforests are densely planted, diverse forests that grow rapidly and require minimal maintenance. 🌿 Carbon Sequestration: Microforests absorb CO2 at a higher rate than traditional forests, helping offset emissions and contribute to carbon neutrality. 🌿 Biodiversity: These forests support a wide range of plant and animal species, creating rich habitats and boosting local ecosystems. 🌿 Educational Value: By involving students in the planting and nurturing process, we foster environmental stewardship and hands-on learning about sustainability. 🌿 Community Engagement: Planting microforests brings communities together, enhancing social cohesion and creating green spaces for everyone to enjoy. The journey to Net Zero isn't just about reducing carbon emissions - it's about creating a more equitable and sustainable world. Join us this Net Zero Week in celebrating the power of microforests and their role in achieving a sustainable, carbon-neutral future. Let's work together to plant the seeds of change and grow a greener, healthier planet for all! 🌍 Get Involved: Contact us to learn more about our mission at SocieTree. Support our microforest initiatives by volunteering or donating. #NetZeroWeek2024 #Sustainability #Microforests #CarbonNeutral #SocieTree #CommunityImpact #GreenFuture

At SocieTree, we believe that the future of our planet lies in the hands of our younger generations. This is why we're dedicated to creating opportunities for children to connect with nature through our flagship initiative, 'Project 96'. In today's digital age, it is more crucial than ever to ensure that young people experience the wonders of the natural world firsthand. By planting microforests in schools, we aim to foster a deep, lasting connection between children and nature, inspiring them to become stewards of the environment. 🌿 Why It's Important: 🌱 Environmental Awareness: Early exposure to nature helps children develop respect and understanding of the environment. 🌱Health Benefits: Nature plays a vital role in promoting physical and mental well-being, reducing stress, and encouraging active lifestyles. 🌱Educational Enrichment: Outdoor learning enhances academic performance and sparks curiosity about the natural world. 🌱Sustainable Future: By instilling eco-friendly values, we prepare future generations to tackle environmental challenges head-on. 'Project 96' is more than just planting trees; it's about sowing the seeds of a sustainable future. Join us in nurturing a generation that will grow up appreciating and protecting the natural world. Together, we can cultivate a greener, healthier planet for all. 🌍 Get Involved: Learn more about our mission at SocieTree. Support our microforest initiatives by volunteering or donating. Update: All 6 forests planted! 🎉 🌳 We shared this big news with you just six months ago. What an amazing feeling to be able to say that we planted all 6 mico forests before the end of April - 11 months ahead of schedule. Most importantly, our planting days were filled with joy and excitement from the children, school staff, and parents, that helped us plant 2188 trees. We could not have done it without them! 💚 We can't wait for the next planting season, but until then, look out for more from our first 6 micro forests of the year. 🍃 Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Plymouth City Council Societree CIC #SocieTree #MyWackyForest #Plymouth #collaboration #greenerfuture #environmentaleducation #ESG #microforest #DEFRA #PlymouthCityCouncil
