Plans lodged for new Sutton padel facility - will create dozens of jobs 💼👀 Plans have been lodged for a new padel court facility in Sutton, creating dozens of jobs in the area. Social Sports Society behind ventures such as WEMBLEY PARK LIMITED Padel, has resubmitted a planning application to Sutton Parish Council for a change of use on the land and is encouraging residents to show their support. The four-court facility will transform a currently vacant space and form part of Aviva and Socius ’ plans for The London Cancer Hub. The site, expected to open in summer 2025, will provide jobs and a new recreational space for local residents, London Cancer Hub employees and visitors. Last Thursday, I attended the UK Nature Restoration Project Launch at Arup. I really enjoyed listening to discussions between Ivan de Klee (Nattergal Ltd), Evan Bowen-Jones (Wilder Carbon), and Tom Butterworth (Arup) about the nature restoration project at Boothby Wildland in Lincolnshire, and the panel chaired by Paula Walsh. My key takeaways from the launch were: 🫰 Arup has pledged £1m investment to generate high-integrity carbon credits, enhance biodiversity, improve soil health and increase flood resilience. 🦫 Nattergal will lead restoration, fostering a richer ecosystem, including introducing beavers to alleviate flooding and increase long-term sequestration. 💰The commercialisation of nature, how it opens itself up to market abuse and the importance of protecting nature in order to reach our carbon targets.
