🚧 Exciting Progress at South Bristol Youth Zone! 🚧 Works are progressing well on the South Bristol Youth Zone project, delivered on behalf of Galliford Try. On Monday, we successfully completed the first of two ground floor slab pours, with preparations underway for the second pour scheduled for next Monday. The Youth Centre, located on the undeveloped land near the roundabout connecting Hengrove Way and Hartcliffe Way, will offer an incredible space for young people in the area. This new facility will provide over 20 activities every night, including football, boxing, climbing, creative arts, music, drama, and employability training. This project will be a game-changer for young people across South Bristol, offering expanded opportunities for personal development, community connection, and much more. Just over two weeks ago, the Southpoint site was a waterlogged bog. Now, thanks to a spell of dry weather and the relentless efforts of our teams, we’ve successfully installed the foul and storm main drainage systems. Drainage chambers are emerging across the field, popping up like mushrooms after signalling the completion of this phase. Next up: installing services and constructing a pumping station. These developments will pave the way for visualizing the roadways in the coming weeks. It’s been a while since my last post—partly because I’ve been battling a chest infection (which I’m almost winning) while keeping the ship steady! ⚓️ This has been the busiest start to a year I’ve ever experienced in my role, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. It was fantastic to see Plantforce taking a keen interest in the project yesterday, filming interviews and highlighting our collaborative approach. Both Plantforce and Solum share similar values, ensuring efficiency and innovation in everything we do. Despite the challenging weather, great progress continues at the Southpoint site 💪 🚜 Breaking rock to install deep drainage as we push towards the ponds, preparing for headwall installation. 💨 Air tests are on the horizon, with Wessex Water scheduled to witness and sign off. 👷♂️ MJC Safety conducted a site visit, ensuring we maintain the highest safety standard. 🌊 CORKISH CONSTRUCTION LTD is managing on-site water, allowing Solum to advance towards road preparation. A big shout out to our supply chain:- CPM – delivering quality concrete drainage products Keyline Civils Specialist – supplying clay ware and covers STONE SUPPLIES (BRISTOL) LIMITED – keeping us stocked with aggregates It’s a tough time of year, but seeing the site take shape is a real reward.
