Coaching to unlock the potential in people caught in the justice system. Find out more and contact us via our website!
About us
We use coaching to unlock the potential of individuals and drive culture change in the criminal justice system so that rehabilitation is possible. We are one of the first organisations to take life coaching to people living and working in prison and to use systems coaching to bring together staff and prisoners in UK prisons. Our expert coaches are qualified and trained professionals. In addition to developing and delivering innovative coaching programmes, we are also committed to working with parliamentarians and government officials to influence criminal justice policy, and shift the perception of people in prison, platforming their voices and highlighting their unlocked potential. In addition to our coaching programmes for people in prison, we have also begun coaching prison staff and young people in the community. You can find out more about the impact of our coaching programmes at www.sparkinside.org and you can follow us on Twitter for all our latest news: @Spark_Inside You can also subscribe to our (approximately) quarterly newsletter here: https://bit.ly/SparkInsideNewsletter

Cecilia, our Participation and Engagement Manager, had the pleasure of kicking off the latest In Prison Advisory Board (IPAB) with four Hero's Journey participants in Brixton last month. Upon reflecting on their time with Spark Inside, one participant highlighted his newfound positivity and excitement toward life after prison! In the coming weeks, they'll work closely together with Cecilia to discuss what young men need after release and what through-the-gate support they would like to be available. Their ideas and insights will feed into our systems change work to influence policy and practice.

Calling all organisations supporting the mental health of young Black men in custody 🗣️👇
Calling all organisations supporting the mental health of young Black men in custody – we want to amplify your voice. Last year I was fortunate enough to work with Spark Inside to develop their Being Well Being Equal Report - promoting the wellbeing of young men and young Black men in the criminal justice system. Over the next 10 months we are building on this work to shine a spotlight on the mental health of young Black men in custody. Young men are front and centre to this work – identifying the important issues and what they feel works in supporting their mental health in custody. We also want to make sure that we reflect the voices of those practitioners and organisations who are already doing great work to support the mental health of young Black men in custody, and provide a platform to promote their work. As one young man has said to us: “When you start to talk about things and you realise that everyone's going through it, you know, it's not uncommon for you to feel like this. You speak to people, you hear other people's struggles and you start to have hope.” If you are a healthcare provider, criminal justice professional, charity or CIC supporting the mental health of young Black men in custody – please do get in touch, it would be great to hear from you!
