Unleashing Grassroots Sport
About us
For our groups, we’re part of the team. Sported is here to help community organisations unleash their power to transform the lives of young people by resourcing and supporting their work. As a leading sport for good charity, we help clubs across the UK to thrive – as well as offering a range of programmes and collaborating with valued partners to provide funding and specific assistance with social impact at its heart. We understand how sport and physical activity can have a positive impact across areas such as mental wellbeing, community cohesion, crime prevention, inclusion and employability. Our whole organisation has spent two productive days in Manchester, discussing how we better serve grassroots sport and unlock its full ability to transform lives and build stronger communities. Bringing Sported’s team together from all parts of the UK is invaluable in sharing insights and ideas - and fuels our drive to support and resource groups and deliver with the help of our partners.

We are #recruiting two Network Coordinators being created as part of a project generously funded by the Westminster Foundation Project. This five-year project will help us work with groups in two areas: Rural communities surrounding the Abbeystead Estate in Lancaster Rural communities in the Highlands surrounding the Sutherland Estate These roles will allow us to better understand the challenges that rural deprivation presents for groups who want to create opportunities for young people to become physically active. Your primary role will be to support community groups in your area, facilitate relationships with strategic stakeholders to enhance your work, and empower and support the network to work in collaboration for the benefit of the areas and its people beyond the 5 years of the project. Sported is proud to have helped steer this to launch with funding from the The National Lottery - an initiative addressing key issues and seeking difference-making solutions around inclusion in sport.
The launch of BLISN marked an inspiring milestone in championing diversity and Black leadership within the sport industry. 🎉 Through engaging talks and powerful networking, we celebrated a collective commitment to advancing inclusion and fostering transformative change. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us. Here’s to the movement that’s just begun—together, we’re shaping a future that recognises and amplifies every voice in sport. https://buff.ly/3Z4TmgE #BLISN #DiversityInLeadership #InspiringChange #SportsIndustry

Fabulous turnout at the Sported South Tyneside Members #OntheTableNE networking session. (Great initiative from Tyne and Wear Community Foundation.) This was a first meeting, lots of conversation, ideas, and possible joint working to explore. Feedback winging its way to the Community Foundation too! Thanks to @SadieHarrison from Inspire for notetaking support and Sue Topping at Boldon Colliery Village Hall / Community Association for the venue and great lunch!!😊. Last but not least thanks for the engaged and thoughtful conversation with the brilliant community groups and sport club leaders. Looking forward to next steps and seeing where the conversation takes us. Thank you for sparing the time in your busy schedules 😊 🙏
