We're excited to share photos of our recently completed boathouse for Headington Rye Oxford taken by Timothy Soar. 'This fantastic new facility symbolises our dedication to excellence in sport and support for our pupils' ambitions and achievements as we inspire, nurture and develop future generations of rowers.' Ryan Demaine, Head Rowing Coach The new building, designed to blend into its surroundings, will enhance the school's ability to develop rowing talent – home to one of the U.K.'s top school boat clubs. The project has been a pleasure to work on, and seeing it in use has been very satisfying. Read the story: https://lnkd.in/eRXWk5uh

In October, Sky-Frame invited us to an exclusive premiere screening of the documentary 'Women in Architecture—Part Two' at the Sky Garden in London. If you haven't watched it yet, the film spotlights the stark gender imbalance in architecture. It reveals that while women make up 70% of architecture students worldwide, this isn’t reflected in the professional landscape. Women in Architecture explores the challenges and potential solutions, aiming to inspire change. The evening included a thought-provoking panel discussion, moderated by Amanda Ferber (Founder and CEO of Architecture Hunter), during which architects Dorte Mandrup and Tosin Oshinowo shared their experiences. From the struggles women face in the field to a unique comparison of Denmark and Nigeria, the conversation brought powerful insights into the state of gender equality in architecture—even in progressive countries like Denmark. Many thanks to Sky-Frame for the invitation and a fantastic event. https://lnkd.in/eJms4DqZ #WomenInArchitecture #DiversityInDesign #InspiringConversations

On Tuesday evening, we were honoured to have our project, Building 3000, shortlisted for the Best Recycled/Refurbished Workspace at the British Council for Offices #NationalAwards. While we didn’t take home the award this year, we're incredibly proud to have been recognised alongside some remarkable projects, and it was a privilege to receive kind words about the project from the evening's host, Clare Balding herself! Having won the South of England & South Wales Regional Award earlier this year, we're excited to see what the next year holds for us in workplace design, both as a practice and for the industry at large. Congratulations to all the winners! And a huge thank you to the whole Building 3000 team. We’re excited to announce that Knighton Mill has been named a regional winner of the LABC Building Excellence Awards! The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) awards recognise quality in building projects and construction. LABC will enter all the regional award winners into the national award. We're looking forward to the ceremony and announcement in January. Knighton Mill is in the beautiful Cranborne Chase AONB. With evidence of the original mill on the site dating back to Domesday, the site included a series of historic waterways. Our brief was to design and build a new home that would sit sensitively into this landscape. Read the story: https://lnkd.in/eEU5sSs9 A huge thank you to everyone involved. Looking forward to attending the #BritishHomesAwards2024 today, following the shortlisting of Knighton Mill - House of the Year (+2,500 ft2). It was such a special house to work on, with its complexities building around and above the river. The contractor DTM Interiors, finished the building to such high standards, we are very proud of this nomination. My favourite view of the property is as below where the beautifully crafted flint and glass box slightly protrudes from the new stone wing as viewed from the site entrance. Good luck to all the nominees today and please see links below to further information on this project https://lnkd.in/ecdE3gcH Photography credit Timothy Soar

Our team is at #AJRetrofitLive today to listen in and learn more about the best retrofit and circular economy practices. More than 70% of our projects are retrofits, and we champion a retrofit-first approach where appropriate. At our project, Winnersh Triangle, we saved an estimated 894,300 kgCO²e by retaining and reusing the existing primary structure. This, combined with a new thermally efficient façade and central plant, led to a more efficient office and warehouse with an EPC of A and lower embodied carbon when compared to an equivalent new build.
