About us
We capture carbon and renewable energy from waste using a low-cost sustainable alternative. Most non-recyclable plastics and other wastes are burnt or buried, adding to environmental issues and atmospheric CO2. Our technology helps protect the planet by removing carbon and harnessing the energy rich resources that society is unable to recycle . The advanced thermal cracking technology used in our SG100 plant transforms waste into a clean synthesis gas (syngas) and biochar that captures and removes carbon. It does not burn waste, so has no problematic emissions. It will transform the management of society’s waste from a problem into a solution. Our Mission is to make a significant contribution in mitigating and reversing the negative environmental, social and economic impacts of climate change. Our Vision is to see our efficient carbon-removing, clean, renewable energy-from-waste technology implemented worldwide. Our technology will materially impact society’s efforts to achieve a Net Zero carbon economy. It helps to end landfill, incineration and waste exports, while generating fossil-fuel replacing energy for homes, buildings, industry and transportation, and feedstock for chemical production. Our Values are anchored in the UN Global Compact with a commitment to operating in ways that reflect our fundamental responsibility for the environment, human rights, labour and ethical, legal business practices – for our customers, employees and the communities we serve.

We were proud to partner with AEG this month at the BST Hyde Park music event and are now very excited to be their partner again at the East London festival Uber One presents All Points East in August. #netzero #CDR #climateaction
We were delighted to be AEG’s Carbon Removal Partner for the American Express presents BST Hyde Park music event this month. AEG has made great strides in measuring and reducing its emissions, through efforts such as using biofuels on site and facilitating attendee journey planning using public transport. CCS has committed to removing AEG’s 2024 and 2025 scope 1 & 2 emissions using removals from Standard Gas Technologies Ltd first SG100 plant, which is currently in commissioning phase. We have also made a several hundred tonnes of free removals available for AEG event attendees through our mobile app Sylva. Now, we’re looking forward to working with AEG on its East London festival Uber One presents All Points East in August. #netzero #CDR #climateaction

This year’s model! While it’s hard to ignore the stylish trio sporting Standard Gas-branded safety workwear, the item attracting their attention is the scale model of the pyrolysis and gas cracking unit of our SG100 plant, which we’re currently in the process of commissioning. “The accuracy of this miniature model of System 200 is amazing,” says Site Manager, Kevin Normington. “A big surprise was discovering that the retort, in which the SG100 processes feedstock into clean gas and carbon char, could be opened to reveal its inner workings.” #CarbonRemoval #NetZero2050 #sustainability #technology

Our Friends: ELECTRIC! As our engineering and operations team power on with the initial commissioning of the SG100, the guys oversaw the powering-up process with the installation of a new transformer and control and distribution panel for the plant at North Norfolk’s Scottow Enterprise Park. A two-day process began with all power shut off at 6pm on a Friday. Our team of bright sparks and those from specialist contractor, Sitek, then worked through the weekend to ensure the old transformer and control panel were removed, new cables and new units installed, power restored, and the new system fully and successfully tested by 6.30pm on the Sunday. Standard Gas joins Negative Emissions Summit 2024 At the recent Negative Emissions Summit held at Microsoft’s Brussels HQ, the opening discussion focused on several cutting-edge routes for bridging the huge gap between current carbon removal levels and those needed to hit Net Zero by 2050. With Standard Gas Director, Richard Jackson, describing the SG100’s ability to generate carbon removing biochar and fossil-replacing energy and products, other panellists explained technologies behind enhanced rock weathering, direct air capture, direct ocean capture, and bioenergy with carbon capture and storage. Commenting on the event, Richard says: “To deliver the 10 billion tonnes of annual CO2 removal the IPCC says is necessary to reach Net Zero by 2020, target, we’ll need an array of new technologies, including ours, and ensure there’s space for more to address the carbon removal needs of different industries while also enabling climate compatible economic growth.” Organiser Negative Emissions Platform says the aim of its annual summits is “to educate policymakers, investors, media, and civil society on the critical importance of highly durable and permanent carbon removals. Our focus extends beyond industry issues to legislative, scientific, and market advancements, emphasising the urgency of the present moment.” Other panel discussions explored: Science for Trust: Providing the Evidence for Credible Carbon Removals; Regulatory Insights: Understanding the Carbon Removal Landscape; and Corporate Climate Claims: Integrating Carbon Removals into Company Commitments. Our SG100 engineering team is flying! Standing on the balcony of our new office at Scottow Enterprise Park in Norfolk is the team leading the commissioning of our first SG100 plant. Located in the former RAF Coltishall Airbase, rumours say the office was once the pilots’ lounge. Our team is certainly ready for take-off, with progress accelerating towards the upcoming Site Assessment Test. HazOp testing has been successfully completed, and this weekend sees the installation of a new transformer to ensure sufficient discrete power to the SG100 and control room. Burners are also being readied for siting in the pyrolysis and gas cracking units’ furnaces. Triple linings are being installed in the furnaces to prevent heat loss, keep external surface temperatures low, and conserve energy. https://lnkd.in/e2jZMvVD Join the evolution - be the change. #CarbonRemoval #NetZero2050 #sustainability #technology
