Look a little closer at nature and you might be surprised at what you find... 🦆 This beautiful wildlife film was created by our ambassador, Simon Owen 🎥🌍, Owner and Director of Standby Productions. It was a runner up at the British Wildlife Photography Awards! The film features a Kingfisher underwater, diving for its prey, Sparrowhawks, Jays, Grasshopper Warbler and many more. 🦗 Standby productions are an environmentally minded video production company based in Manchester, and Simon is a huge advocate for nature and the climate. With a view to moving away from a 'standard case study' we took the initiative here to create something far more cinematic (and hopefully engaging). This was of course guided by the brief of 'doing something different' from westley and Tom ...and the rest of the awesome team at Cleo (thanks for letting push the boundaries)! So, it took me a few days to process Thursday night and HEIST awards 2024. I am still a bit shocked and surprised, proud and appreciative, but above all, I am very happy and grateful. The Manchester Met team WON! 🏆 🥇 GOLD in the ‘Best Use of Content’ category for the Wes Anderson-inspired 200 Years film (for those who haven't seen it yet: https://lnkd.in/eJ3eW3bj) 🥈 SILVER for the ‘Best Post Graduate Campaign.’ Words cannot fully express my gratitude to everyone at #HEIST2024 and all the judges who celebrated our passion and creativity by awarding us - especially for the 200 Years film. I never imagined that the idea I had for this film would become an award-winning one. There is no "I" in team, so I must extend a huge thanks to Ali James and Danielle Griffiths for putting 110% trust in me to deliver this content. Special thanks to Anna Maria P. for making shoot days go smoother and to the rest of the Marketing Team and Creative Services for supporting me in every other way. What a day to be out filming with our fav’s Lancashire Wildlife Trust on Tuesday ☀️ Rees and I were both in our element out in nature filming for an incredible new project with our friends, environment partners and all round brilliant people!! Thanks Jenny for all your help, knowledge and enthusiasm out there. Based on how the weather has turned out this week, we couldn’t have picked a better day to be out in the West Pennines Moors and capturing some beautiful peat bogs, habitats and wildlife that live there! The big lens was out!! 👀

I am leading a group of 25 students from The Manchester Metropolitan University who signed up through their award winning Mcr Met Rise Programme to design 4 balconies, facing North, East, South & West. Each balcony is designed for a renter & the students have a total budget of £500 to complete each build. None of the students are studying horticulture. Their courses range from marketing to architecture. They've had weekly sessions with me for the past few months to get them up to speed. It's a tough challenge, but with the help of the The Landscape Academy, will we be able to bring it all together? You'll have to come visit the show or follow along for more updates!
