Super pleased Standing Tall has been shortlisted for the #SocialValueAwards2024 with Social Value Portal. We've been shortlisted for the 'SME and VCSE Leadership Award' and looking forward to attending the #SocialValueAwards on 17th October in #Birmingham. We're ending homelessness one person at a time. But we're only able to do this across our 6 cities through our partnerships with responsible businesses providing stable jobs for the talented people we're helping. Responsible businesses like Network Rail, Amey, M. Lambe Construction Limited, Taziker and UPP are showing what the private sector can practically do to help end homelessness. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 17th in #Birmingham! https://lnkd.in/eDJ4GNnj #SocialValue #Homelessness #ESG #CSR #CorporateSocialResponsibility #SocialImpact #ResponsibleBusiness #InclusiveRecruitment #Birmingham #London #Manchester #Liverpool #Leeds #Bristol

Seven years ago, I was running a night shelter in Birmingham, and I got sick of seeing the same thing every night. I was surrounded by people who wanted to work, contribute, and change their situation, but no one would give them a chance. They were stuck in a brutal cycle that seemed impossible to break. Homelessness hurts. But what we do at Standing Tall breaks that cycle. It's not about charity, and it's not about handouts. It's about refusing to waste a drop of human potential. After seven years of hard work, we've found what works. It’s the dignity of a job, the security of a home, and the power of personalised support. That's the combo that gives people a pathway off the streets for good. And it really does work—4 out of 5 of our candidates are still employed one year later. Yesterday, I gave an impromptu talk to a room full of delegates at Social Value Portal Social Value Conference. It made me think about how far we've come. We couldn't do any of this without the incredible businesses that employ talent through us. They're not just "doing the right thing" on the side. Purpose isn't a bolt-on for them—it's built into their day-to-day. They’re reflecting their communities and benefitting from diverse experiences to build resilient, inclusive organisations. Shoutout to Network Rail, Amey, M. Lambe Construction Limited, Taziker, BOUYGUES UK, UPP, Bedspace. Thank you for walking the walk with us. As a business, you employ people. That's your superpower. And you get to choose who you want to give a chance to. We've got Talent Scouts in Birmingham, London, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, and Bristol—and we're only just getting started. If you're hiring for entry-level roles and open to hiring overlooked talent you’d never find on LinkedIn, let’s talk. “Every business, big or small, can be a force for social good.” Our MD, Michael Lambe recently sat down with Christy Acton from Standing Tall and Steve Dyson on Aston University’s Aston Means Business podcast. Michael shared how personal loss changed his views on running a business. Christy shared how an unexpected moment in a night shelter sparked a movement. Ever been told you shouldn't give money to people on the street? You’ll hear why Christy challenges this advice, too. £57,000 in social value per hire is a big enough number to make you think. But numbers can't explain what it's like to see people go from feeling lost to having a purpose, a paycheck, and a proper support network. We're grateful to be part of it 🙏 Want to know why Steve called it his most fulfilling episode since the series began in 2019? We’ll add the link to the full conversation in the comments 👇 #Construction #LambesLatest #SocialEntrepreneurship

It’s #WorldHomelessDay and we're here to challenge you. Life on the streets is horrendous and when find yourself there, it’s so hard to get off them. But there’s incredible talent sitting on our streets. It’s on us to change the system. Jump outside the ‘Us’ and ‘them’ and the world becomes more interesting. Stopping for a chat is a great start, listen to how their day is going. It’s ok if that’s too much, just say ‘Hi’ and smile. Standing Tall is working with some amazing businesses taking this talent into their workforces. And we’re humbled by our Amici Hosts who welcome our people into their homes as a stepping stone to getting their own place. #StopAndTalk #Homelessness #WorldHomelessDay #WprldMentalHealthDay

'Business is an under-utilised tool for social good'. Thrilled Michael Lambe and I shared the story of the partnership between Standing Tall and M. Lambe Construction Limited to help people move off the streets for good. We recently spoke to Steve Dyson from Aston Business School's #Astonmeansbusiness podcast for it's latest episode. We shared the story of how the partnership between M. Lambe Construction Limited as a responsible employer and Standing Tall has helped more than 10 people in #Birmingham off the streets for good over the last few years. With plans to start working together in Derby next year, we'll be able to help double the number of people we'll be able to help. ➡️➡️➡️https://lnkd.in/e6Zqe3fJ #Homelessness #Birmingham #SocialImpact #SocialValue #Responsiblebusiness #Inclusiverecruitment #ESG #CSR #CorporateSocialResponsibility #SocialEnterprise #Charity #Talent
