About us

St Barnabas supports more than 10,500 local people every year and delivers care to patients living with a life limiting or terminal illness and their families. Our ambition, for every patient we meet, is to enable them to live life to the fullest possible extent for however many days, weeks or months they have left. This year it will cost over £11.5m to deliver our services. The NHS does give us some money, but we still need to raise at least £5.5 million. There are so many ways you can get involved and help us achieve our ambition.

This year, we’re shining a light on our hidden teams, the incredible people working behind the scenes to support our mission. Led by Rebekah Gore and Sarah Christopher, this team provides gold standard, evidence-based education in palliative, end-of-life, and healthcare - benefiting patients, individuals, organisations, and communities. 🎓 What they do: ✅ Develop CPD-accredited education programmes ✅ Deliver interactive and engaging training for staff and external professionals ✅ Support medical students, apprentices, and work experience placements ✅ Generate income for St Barnabas by offering external training 💬 Rebekah & Sarah share: "We take pride in offering high-quality education that enhances understanding, retention, and critical thinking. Our courses receive outstanding feedback, and we love working for an organisation that truly embodies its values." 🏥 Making a difference through placements: 🔹 In 2024, 111 medical students completed one-week placements with us 🔹 In 2025, 97 more students are set to join 🔹 We’ve also introduced Paramedic Science Student placements, with 26 students joining us in January 2025 Thank you to our Education Team!
