STEPS Amputee Conference 2024 We would like to extend our thanks to all the delegates, speakers, and colleagues who played a pivotal role in the success of the inaugural #STEPSAmputeeConference2024. The day was a powerful reminder of the profound impact that prosthetic technology and amputee rehabilitation can have following a traumatic injury. We were privileged to hear from some of our clients, whose personal journeys were testament to the transformative effects of cutting-edge prosthetic solutions, intensive residential rehabilitation, and their own remarkable determination. We were particularly honoured to welcome Professor Rickard Brånemark, the world’s leading expert in osseointegration surgery, as our keynote speaker. Professor Brånemark offered invaluable insights into the latest advancements and emerging opportunities in extremity reconstruction, drawing on his vast experience and pioneering contributions in the field. STEPS Prosthetics Founders, Colette Shaw and Peter Durkin presented the incredible evolution and recent advances in prosthetics, while Sarah Drury and Sarah Watt offered their expertise on achieving the gold standard in amputee physiotherapy to ensure the best possible outcomes. A particular highlight of the conference was the interactive exhibition space, where delegates had the unique opportunity to explore and test some of the latest innovations in prosthetic technology, including the newly launched Ottobock Genium X4, Ottobock Kenevo, and the TASKA CX™ Multigrip Hand, all of which demonstrated how these technologies can significantly enhance the recovery process. Reflecting on the success of the STEPS Amputee Conference, Colette Shaw, Founder and Prosthetist at STEPS Prosthetics, said: “We are thrilled with the positive response to the inaugural STEPS Amputee Conference. We are grateful to the speakers for sharing their expertise and our incredible clients for sharing their inspiring stories of recovery. Special thanks to Professor Rickard Brånemark, for his fascinating insights into osseointegration and a glimpse into future developments in bidirectional control of prosthetic limbs. This conference highlights our dedication to amputee rehabilitation and the importance of collaboration with legal and healthcare professionals following complex trauma."
